                                                                  CARDS @ CUBS

Martinez pitches for St Louis with a 6-5 record and a 3.08 ERA. After an amazing April when he posted a 0.54 ERA for the month, he went on the DL after his 2nd start in May. When he returned he had a horrible June where he walked 21 batters in 22.2 total innings while posting a 6.75 ERA for the month. He has since cut down on the walks but hasn't pitched more than 6 innings in 8 of his last 9 starts and in 6 of those games hasn't made it past the 5th. Since 2015 he is 4-4 against the Cubs with a 4.72 ERA and 1-2 at Wrigley. The Cards have lost 6 of his last 9 starts while dropping 3 of their last 4 overall. Hendricks takes the mound for Chicago with a 6-8 record and a 3.92 ERA. He hasn't pitched as bad as his record might indicate as he allowed more than 3 runs in only 4 of his 19 starts with 3 of them on the road. He allowed 2 runs or less in 3 of his losses and has a 3-5 record at home with a 3.18 ERA. He suffered 3 losses at home despite allowing just 1 run in each of the losses and batters are hitting just .207 off him there. He beat St Louis in his 1st meeting this year and is 3-1 against them since 2015. The Cubs are 12-3 in their last 15 games.

                                                            RED SOX @ TIGERS

Price pitches for Boston with a 10-6 record and a 4.42 ERA. He has had a very  good season for the most part allowing 3 runs or less in 9 of 10 starts in the months of May and June and compiled a 7-2 record. July has been a different story especially on the road where he hasn't pitched well. In 3 starts this month, he allowed 15 runs and 21 hits in just 14.2 total innings for a 9.20 ERA with 2 of the starts on the road. As a matter of fact in his last 5 road games he pitched a total of 27 innings and allowed 19 runs and 32 hits including 9 HR's. His record there is 5-4 with a 4.96 ERA which is almost 1.5 runs higher than at home. Boyd takes the mound for the Tigers with a 4-8 record and a 4.76 ERA. He allowed 3 runs or less in 10 of his first 13 starts but seems to have tired leading up to the All Star break. He allowed at least 5 runs in 4 of his last 5 games and didn't make it past the 6th inning in any of them. With a 9 day rest and an ERA of 3.57 at home he should be able to make a good showing against Boston who he has beaten when he allowed just 2 runs and 4 hits in 6.1 innings in their 1st meeting in June. The Tigers are also a better team at home.

                                                                METS @ YANKS

Syndergaard pitches for the Mets with a 5-1 record and a 2.97 ERA. After 6 weeks on the DL he made his 1st start in his last game and allowed 1 run and 7 hits in 5 innings. It was the 11th straight start he allowed 3 runs or less and his 3rd straight winning decision. In 69.2 total innings pitched, he's struck out 79 batters, walked 15 and allowed just 5 HR's. He is 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA on the road and 3-1 at night with a 3.44 ERA while the current Yankee roster is batting just .120 off him including Stanton who is 0 for 11 with 6 K's. The Mets have won 2 of their last 3 games. German takes the mound for the Yanks with a 2-5 record and a 5.49 ERA. He has started 12 games this season and allowed at least 3 runs in 9 of them and at least 4 runs in 5 of those while averaging just over 5 innings a start for a 5.97 ERA in his starts. He allowed 6 runs and 5 hits before being knocked out after 4 innings in his last game. Over his last 4 starts totaling 17.1 innings, he allowed 16 runs and 24 hits while walking 9. Syndergaard hasn't been a dog all season and is usually a big favorite. Considering the huge line and the Yank's starter, I'll happily take the Mets as a dog with Syndergaard.

                                                              PADRES @ PHILLIES

Richard pitches for SD with a 7-8 record and a 4.43 ERA. He has had a good season but over his last 6 starts he hasn't pitched past the 6th inning in 5 of them and in his last 4 allowed 14 runs and 27 hits in 24 innings for a 5.25 ERA. The Padres lost 3 of those 4 starts and he lost his last 2 decisions. The Padres have lost 5 straight games and 8 of their last 10 while going 6-21 in their last 27 games overall. Arrieta takes the mound for Philadelphia with a 7-6 record and a 3.23 ERA. After going 5-2 in the first 2 months of the season, he had a terrible June losing all 4 of his decisions and he allowed more than 3 runs in 3 starts while doing that just once all year until then. He pitched 7 scoreless innings and allowed only 3 hits in his last start for his 5th straight game of allowing 3 runs or less. He won his last 2 decisions and is 3-2 with a 2.53 ERA at home while the Phillies have the best home record in the NL at 30-16. He is 1-0 against SD with an 0.64 ERA since 2015 and Philadelphia has beaten SD 40 of their last 59 meetings.

Flaherty pitches for St Louis with a 3-4 record and a 3.24 ERA. He started the season pitching great as he allowed 3 runs or less in 9 of his first 10 starts but hasn't been as effective the last month or so. He hasn't pitched more than 6 innings in 5 of his last 6 starts and over his last 17.1 innings covering 4 starts, has allowed 17 hits and 11 runs for a 5.71 ERA while the Cards have lost his last 5 games. St Louis has lost 4 of their last 5 games overall and scored 2 runs or less in 3 of the losses. Lester takes the mound for the Cubs with a 12-2 record and a 2.58 ERA. He has started 19 games and allowed 3 runs or less in 16 of them. He has won 8 straight decisions while Chicago has won 11 of his last 12 starts. He is 5-1 at Wrigley with a 1.98 ERA and 7-0 in day games with a 2.22 ERA. Since 2016 he has a 6-1 record with a 2.10 ERA against St Louis.
