Colorado got their offense back on track on Thursday night. I am sure that playing their first game at home after the All Star Break had to be uplifting for the team. They play a Pirate team that has now lost 5 straight on the road, and 38 of their last 53 when traveling. One would expect that the Colorado hitters are eager to face Ian Snell of the Pirates. The Pirates are 1-6 in Snells last 7 road games, and he hasn't helped his cause a 11.35 Era and a 2.07 whip in his road starts. Glendon Rusch is making his third start of the season for the Rockies. He has been used primarily out of the bullpen this season, but has been effective in his other two starts. Colorado has struggled over their last 5 games, hitting .151 and scoring just 0.33 runs a game vs righties. The Pirates have been even worse, hitting .130 and scoring 0.00 runs vs lefties in their last 5. Look for the Rockies to explode tonight. If you are having trouble in your road starts, Colorado is not where you want to be making your next road appearance! For the record, the Pirates are 2-4 in their last 6 road games when Umpire Dale Scott has been behind the plate, while the Rockies are 3-0 the last 3 times he has Umpired in Colorado.
