Catcher A.J. Pierzynski said it best; it is going to be tough for us to keep the intensity up for the game on Sunday. With the entire White Sox team looking ahead to the four game series against Minnesota starting Monday it’s hard to imagine that this is anything but a look ahead situation. I know I said the entire series would be this way and in a way it has. The Sox have got breaks late in the game to defeat the Tigers by 1 run in each of the previous two games. The Tigers are looking to avoid the sweep at home and send Zach Miner to the mound. Miner sports a 4-3 overall record with a 3.73 ERA. He has started 1 game this season for the Tigers where he pitched six scoreless in a 19-4 victory Monday against the Royals. Although he has not fared well against Chicago in his career, his counterpart Javier Vazquez has been ice cold the last month and change. Winless since June 16th his ERA has slipped over 4.50 and he record is now a below .500 7-8.Its time that the Tigers put an end to these late game shenanigans and close out the series with a victory to avoid going in the biggest deficit since the beginning of June in the AL Central.
