Kansas City Royals at Chicago White Sox
It won't come cheap, but the play here is squarely on the White Sox, as they continue their dominance of the Royals by beating them for the 7th time in 8 meetings this season tonight! Let's start with the most obvious, which is the Royals have been terrible at US Cellular this season, losing all 4 in Chicago. That's thanks in large part to the White Sox feasting on the KC pitchers, batting a blistering .300, while scoring an average 7.5 runs per game against them at home. Included in that group of Kansas City starters who got rocked at US Cellular this season is Gil Meche, who got tagged for 5 runs in 5 2/3 innings there back on June 5th. Meche has been anything but sharp over his last 3 starts, going 0-1 with 5.00 ERA, and a match up against the White Sox is the last thing he needs. Why? Because the White Sox crush righties at home, averaging an impressive 6.3 runs per game, while batting .288 on the season against them! Not only that, but the White Sox are 20-8 against righties at US Cellular this season. Opposing Meche is Gavin Floyd, who I fully expect to bounce back strong in tonight's match up, after getting rocked in Arlington in his last one. Look guys, there's no shame in getting rocked by one of the best offenses in baseball on the road, but make no mistake, Floyd will be highly focused in this match up, and that can only mean good things for Chicago. Remember, Floyd is 7-1 with a 2.57 ERA at US Cellular this season, so if there's any place he'll bounce back it'll tonight at home. Bottom line, White Sox take care of business, protecting their house as Gavin Floyd rebounds from a piss-poor effort in Texas with another stellar home start this Saturday. White Sox offense feasts on righties, and Gil Meche will be no exception in this one!
