RUNLINE: New York Yankees -1.5 (-110)
WIN for +2.73 unit(s)
Philadelphia Phillies at New York Yankees
Writeup: Start spreading the news, the Yankees are going to be the 2009 World Champions! These teams have been analyzed to death at this point, but I believe the outcome in tonight's game comes down to a few simple factors:
Still chasing that elusive 27th championship, New York turns to Andy Pettitte; Pettitte has a knack for closing this time of year. He owns 17 postseason wins and five that clinched series, both big league records! Two of those clinchers came in the AL playoffs this year. He is 3-0 with a 3.24 ERA in four starts this postseason, including a Game 3 win at Philadelphia.
On the other side of the field: Veteran Pedro Martinez gets the call for Philadelphia; Pettitte and Martinez first squared off on the mound 11 years ago, but they’ve never done so in the postseason. Both pitchers are 3-3 in six matchups, all games between the Yankees and Red Sox from 1998-2003.
Bottom line: It was a valiant effort it made, but frankly if Philadelphia didn't have Cliff Lee in its lineup, it likely would not have won a single game in this series; too many factors working against the Phillies tonight (Ryan Howard is batting just .158 (3 for 19) with 12 strikeouts!); home field advantage, a superior pitcher, and a $450 million lineup are the difference here; look for the YANKEES to win this one convincingly and improve to 73-43 (+10.1 units) against right-handed starters as the Phillies bow out in six and fall to 0-3 (-3 units) as a road dog of +175 to +200 in the post-season! *8*

Baltimore Orioles @ Kansas City Royals Thursday July 29, 2010 8:10 pm
4* Major MLB "Total" Dominator on Orioles/Royals UNDER 9.5 I don't play a lot of baseball totals, but I really like this one. Both teams are struggling, and largely due to poor output at the plate. Baltimore southpaw Matusz is the last pitcher KC wants ... read more

Baltimore Orioles @ Kansas City Royals Thursday July 29, 2010 8:10 pm
FREE PLAY 1 Unit on Kansas City Royals -130 The Royals are worthy of a small play with Davies on the hill. KC has won each of his last 4 starts, including a win against the Yankees his last time out. Plus, the Royals are 4-0 in Davies' last 4 series opening starts, ... read more

Seattle Mariners @ Chicago White Sox Thursday July 29, 2010 8:10 pm
3 Unit Play Take 922 Chicago White Sox vs. Seattle (8 pm ET) Seattle showed a bit of a spark last night, but it wasn't enough. They have lost the first three games of this series, and far more games than they have won overall recently. They are not in a good place. The White Sox ... read more

Oakland Athletics @ Texas Rangers Thursday July 29, 2010 8:05 pm
We won with the A’s last night and there is no reason to think they cannot do it again at an even better price. Oakland lost a tough opener Tuesday in extra innings as it was able to hang around against Cliff Lee who went nine innings once again. It came back with a big win ... read more

Arizona Diamondbacks @ Philadelphia Phillies Thursday July 29, 2010 7:05 pm
<p>15* graded play on Philadelphia as they host Arizona set to start at 7:05 EST. At the time of this writing it appears very likely that the Phillies have acquired Oswalt. Terms are agreed upon and all that is left is for Oswalt to approve the deal. There had been problems ... read more

3* MLB *Mound Mismatch* on Phillies -150 The red hot Phillies have the edge on the mound with Kendrick against the ice cold D-backs tonight. The Phillies are a perfect 7-0 in Kendrick's last 7 starts as a home favorite of -151 to -200. It also helps that he has a ... read more

Los Angeles Dodgers @ San Diego Padres Thursday July 29, 2010 6:35 pm
The Dodgers and Padres have 11 more games to play this season and that allows the Dodgers plenty of opportunity to get back in the race. The Dodgers have done well against the Padres, winning six of the last eight after losing Wednesday's game. The Dodgers will go with Vincente Padilla ... read more

Florida Marlins @ San Francisco Giants Thursday July 29, 2010 3:45 pm
What a wild game on Wednesday between these clubs. The Giants jumped out to an early 7-1 lead and led 9-2 heading into the 7th inning. With one of the best pitching staffs in baseball you would think a seven run lead would be safe. But the Marlins scored five in the seventh and two ... read more

Florida Marlins @ San Francisco Giants Thursday July 29, 2010 3:45 pm
3 Unit Play Take 908 San Francisco vs. Florida (3:45 pm ET) The Giants' bullpen let us down in a big way yesterday, but I'm ready to give them a chance to redeem themselves here. Despite the collapse I still like the Giants more than the Marlins in all of the same ways as I did. ... read more
