Play ON Los Angeles Lakers (-) vs Boston @ 9:05 PM ET – This line will look a little steep to many but the way the Lakers played in the fourth quarter of Game Two is precisely what they needed to be able to carry forward some momentum to Game Three in Los Angeles. Even though the Lakers left Boston in an 0-2 hole, Los Angeles does have some confidence from putting that tremendous scare into the Celtics late in Game Two on Sunday night. Give the Celtics credit for knocking off the Lakers in both games in Boston. However, it was somewhat surprising that the Lakers played so poorly in quarters two and three of Game Two. They just didn’t have the strong emotions you would have expected to see from a team desperately seeking a split on the road to open up the series. Undoubtedly, you will now see that desperation come shining through in Game Three in Los Angeles. The Lakers current run at home has simply been amazing! Los Angeles has won fourteen straight home games in a stretch that dates all the way back to late March! Los Angeles has won 8 of the last 13 in this streak by double digits so the 9.5 point line posted on this game should not be perceived to be too prohibitive for the favorite. As for the Celtics, their road woes are well documented and deservedly so! Boston is just 2-7 away from the Garden in this postseason. The average margin of victory in those nine games has been roughly eleven points per game. Once again, that makes tonight’s line certainly seem a little less imposing. With the Celtics road struggles and the Lakers home success, coupled with a coast to coast trip for this game, there is little doubt that the Lakers are capable of a blowout win here. After Boston shot 38 free throws to just ten free throws for the Lakers in Game Two, look for some “evening out” to occur now that the locale for this series has shifted from one coast to the other. Also, the Lakers aggressiveness on the boards, in transition, and in going after loose balls will be like the difference between “night and day” now that they’re back home in Los Angeles. The Lakers win this one in a rout and the confidence factor is so high about this one that it easily earned Game of the Year status!
