MONEYLINE: San Francisco Giants -121
WIN for +1.65 unit(s)
Houston Astros at San Francisco Giants
Play ON San Francisco Giants $ line (-) vs Houston @ 10:15 PM ET The Giants blew a 3-0 lead in yesterdays game but that is unlikely to happen again with Matt Cain on the mound tonight. Note that Cain has been phenomenal in his home outings this season and he will bounce back from a rough outing in his most recent start. The Giants righthander allowed five runs and nine hits in 6.1 innings of work on Thursday at Pittsburgh. However, San Francisco had won his three prior starts and hes been rock solid at home as hes accumulated some great numbers at AT & T Park dating back to last season. In his last nine starts at San Francisco, Cain is 4-2 with a 2.24 ERA. Overall, Cain has been hit at just a ,223 clip in his major league career. This is simply amazing and it shows just how good Cains stuff is. The Astros havent seen much of Cain in his young career and that certainly favors the young hurler. One of the key catalysts for Houstons recent hot streak is Lance Berkman. However, hes been bothered by a groin injury thats only going to get worse as he continues to try to play through the injury. This is bad news with Brandon Backe on the mound for the Astros today as Houston needs to score a lot of runs to stay in this game and that may not be possible with Cain on the mound for San Francisco and with Berkman hurting for Houston. Backe has struggled on the road throughout his career and this season has been no different. The Astros righthander is 0-3 so far this season on the road and in his career he is now just 8-13 on the road with a 5.58 ERA. Although Backe has only pitched at AT & T Park twice, neither outing went well and more struggles are on tap today. The Giants had won their last two games by a combined score of 12-5 before yesterdays loss and they will bounce back here with a decided pitching edge in this match-up. Also note that the Giants have received a boost with the return of shortstop Omar Vizuel to the lineup. In his first three games back hes been on base 7 times in 13 plate appearances. Look for more of the same in tonights game. This one should be a dominating win for the host and thats why its a Big Easy for Tuesday!
