MONEYLINE: Florida Marlins -168
WIN for +0.6 unit(s)
Washington Nationals at Florida Marlins
FREE Pick: Florida Marlins – After blowing yesterday’s game and losing 9 to 6 to the awful Washington Nationals, look for the Marlins to bounce back today and take two out of three in this series by notching this afternoon’s series finale. The price is a little higher than we generally like to use as a “service play” so that is why you’re reading about it here as we do feel that there is value with the Marlins in this spot! Florida was 25-19 at home before yesterday’s loss while Washington was just 15-25 on the road before coming up with yesterday’s surprising upset. Needless to say the likelihood of back to back road wins for the Nationals is not too good in this spot. The Nats had lost 9 of their last 13 before yesterday’s win and Odalis Perez is getting the start for the Nationals this afternoon. The southpaw is just 2-5 this season and, although his 3.87 ERA is somewhat respectable, opponents are hitting .284 against him! On the road this season Perez has been particularly poor as he’s got a 5.35 ERA and he’s been hit at a .327 clip away from Washington. Perez and the Nats are unlikely to be any match for the Marlins and Ricky Nolasco. The Florida right-hander really appears to be putting it all together now as he’s 8-4 on the season with a ton of quality starts. In fact, Nolasco has allowed three earned runs or less in 11 of his last 13 starts! He is also 4-1 in his career against Washington and he’s held them to a .233 batting average! Nolasco has dropped his ERA by a full run over his last four starts and he’s pitching as well as he has all season. That spells trouble for the Nats and it equates to a big home win for the Marlins here! Lay the price as Florida should be well worth it today and keep in mind this game goes EARLY at 12:10 ET.
