Detroit Tigers at Baltimore Orioles

ORIOLES – The Orioles fell short in Thursday’s game despite out-hitting the Tigers 14-9. Baltimore got some redemption Friday as they knocked off Detroit by a 7-4 final. The Tigers continue to play without All Star Carlos Guillen as his wife has had childbirth complications. Also, the Tigers Miguel Cabrera has been slumping lately as he is just 1 for 15 in his last four games. Note that Detroit is just 20-28 on the road this season while the Orioles are a rock solid 26-17 at home. Even though the Orioles had lost eight of nine before yesterday’s win, Baltimore has been hitting the ball well and that certainly should continue against Nate Robertson of the Tigers. The Detroit southpaw is just 3-5 on the road this season with a 6.03 ERA. Overall, opponents are hitting .305 against Robertson this season. The Tigers left-hander has allowed double digits in hits in three of his last four starts. At Camden Yards, the Orioles are one of the stronger offenses in the majors as they hit the ball well and also have a .461 slugging percentage at home. Even though Robertson has some good career numbers against the Orioles, he simply is not throwing  the ball well right now and he’s facing a very confident Baltimore lineup. Although the Tigers have been hitting the ball well, they are generally much weaker on the road in comparison with at home. Also, facing Daniel Cabrera of the Orioles could quiet the Tigers sticks. The Orioles have won five of the six starts that Cabrera has made against Detroit in his career. Also, the Baltimore right-hander has allowed just 13 earned runs in his last five starts at home. In those outings Cabrera has worked a total of 35 innings. So Cabrera has a 3.34 ERA and he’s averaged 7 innings per outing in his last five home starts! Even though his career ERA against the Tigers is somewhat high, Detroit has only hit Cabrera at a .256 clip in his career and he’s 3-1 against the Tigers. The Orioles also have a bullpen edge in this match-up. Couple that pen edge along with a  starting pitching edge as well as home field and you can see that this is a great value price on the O’s. Lay the price with Baltimore!
