SMU Mustangs at Pittsburgh Panthers
The SMU Mustangs were at one time 5-1 but failed down the stretch to finish 7-5. The season was just the opposite for Pittsburgh who opened the season with 2 wins but then lost 4 out of 5 and rallied back to finish 6-6 to make a bowl game. This is a bit of a grudge match now for June jones who seemed to have the Arizona St. job, which was ultimately taken by Todd Graham of Pittsburgh. it is also an opportunity for Jones to win his 100th game. The Graham departure leaves Pitt with its 5th coach in 13 months. The SMU defense is pretty good and needed some rest. Pitt QB Tino Sunseri has been sacked 54 times which will be a factor in this game. I just think there are way to many negatives going here for Pitt, and players have been quoted as saying the whole season was a lie. SMU also fits into one of my top Bowl systems which is 42-8-2 ATS in 52 games, and won on Cincinnati on New Year's eve. Play on SMU in this one.
