TOTAL: Under 181.5 (-110)
LOSS for -5 unit(s)
Phoenix Mercury at San Antonio Silver Stars
Two of the three highest scoring teams in the WNBA take the floor this afternoon which makes this one an easy over. Well, at least that is what the public is going to perceive and the linesmakers have made the adjustments to combat this. The first two meetings this year both flew over the total but those games were played last month and while both offenses continue to play at a top level, there has been more stress placed on the defensive side of things.
Taking a look at recent results shows Phoenix going under in four of its last six games with the two games that went over coming against Minnesota, the second highest scoring team in the league. That can be an argument for seeing another high-scoring game here but that is not contrarian. Meanwhile, San Antonio has gone under in four straight and is 0-7-1 to the under over its last eight games. And the thing about those games is that the highest closing total was 163 with the majority of the games closing in the 150's.
Looking at raw numbers show the offense combining for 174 ppg on the season while the defenses are allowing a combined 164.2 ppg. Those numbers do not add up to the total we are seeing Thursday and the fact that the defenses have the lower combined totals will put us in position for a low scoring game. Phoenix is 10-2 to the under in its last 12 games in the second half of the season against teams averaging 77 ort more ppg while San Antonio is 7-1 to the under in its eight games revenging a loss this season. 10* Under (651) Phoenix Mercury/(652) San Antonio Silver Stars

New York Liberty @ Atlanta Dream Tuesday August 2, 2011 7:30 pm
This is a big game for both sides but more so for Atlanta. The Dream are tied with Chicago for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and despite a lot of games left on the schedule, they are all very important right now. Atlanta is coming off a loss in its last ... read more

Connecticut Sun @ Chicago Sky Tuesday July 26, 2011 8:05 pm
This is the fourth of five meetings between Connecticut and Chicago with the home team holding serve on its home floor through the first three games thus far. The home/road dichotomies of these two teams are come of the most extreme in the WNBA as they are a combined 14-2 at home ... read more

Chicago Sky @ Indiana Fever Thursday July 21, 2011 7:00 pm
Indiana flopped for us on Tuesday as it lost in Atlanta which was its third straight loss. The last two losses came on the road so a return home should get the Fever going once again as they are 7-2 at home this season and they have defeated the Sky in the last nine home meetings ... read more

Indiana Fever @ Atlanta Dream Tuesday July 19, 2011 12:00 pm
We will keep this one short and sweet as it goes off at noon ET. Indiana is coming off a loss in its last game at Connecticut and it has actually lost two straight games following a home loss against Minnesota. Prior to that the Fever had won seven straight games and we have to go ... read more

Los Angeles Sparks @ San Antonio Silver Stars Tuesday July 12, 2011 8:00 pm
The Sparks have a new coach after Jennifer Gillom following five straight losses on this roadtrip. While that could help motivate the team to try and snag its first road win of the season, it will not be enough to try and improve a defense that has been abysmal of late. The Sparks ... read more

Minnesota Lynx @ Tulsa Shock Thursday June 30, 2011 8:05 pm
We are catching great value in this total. The first meeting this season just over three weeks ago had a closing total of 166.5 and even though it stayed well under the number, this is a drastic decrease from that. Both teams have been up and down with their totals and are a combined ... read more

Los Angeles Sparks @ Connecticut Sun Tuesday June 28, 2011 8:00 pm
Los Angeles has not gotten off to a very good start on its roadtrip as it is 0-2 which has dropped it to 0-3 on the season. The home team has been money in all of its games, going a perfect 7-0 as well as a 6-1 record against the number. All three road losses have been by double-digits ... read more

San Antonio Silver Stars @ Atlanta Dream Sunday June 26, 2011 3:00 pm
Atlanta won on Tuesday as it took care of Chicago to register its first home win of the season. The Dream then followed that up with a dud on Friday as it lost at home against Phoenix as both offense and defense were horrendous. They are just 1-4 at home on the season and have yet ... read more

Phoenix Mercury @ Chicago Sky Saturday June 25, 2011 8:05 pm
Phoenix is coming off a win yesterday against Atlanta which made it three straight wins following a 0-3 start to the season. The Mercury were very impressive yesterday as they shot 52.3 percent from the floor and held Atlanta to just 35.9 percent shooting. They led by as many as ... read more
