MONEYLINE: Oakland Athletics +170
LOSS for -5 unit(s)
Oakland Athletics at Texas Rangers
We won with the A’s last night and there is no reason to think they cannot do it again at an even better price.
Oakland lost a tough opener Tuesday in extra innings as it was able to hang around against Cliff Lee who went nine innings once again. It came back with a big win last night behind Trevor Cahill and the A’s are now 10-3 over their last 13 games and while it may seem farfetched, they are still alive in the division, trailing by 7.5 games. Another young gun takes the hill who is flying under the radar.
The Rangers are no doubt the team to beat in the American League West but things are not looking very promising. Texas is 9-4 over its last 13 games and while that is very solid, one thing that has been an issue has been the offense. The Rangers have scored three runs or fewer in nine of their last 15 games while averaging just 3.7 rpg over that stretch. This includes three games of eight runs each which makes the consistent run that much worse.
The under the radar pitcher is Vin Mazzaro, who has been outstanding. He has a 3.45 ERA on the season as seven of his 10 starts have been quality outings including his last six. He has a 2.20 ERA over those last six games and getting a hot pitcher like this at a price like this shows extraordinary value. Oakland has won four of his last five starts and he should be in great shape again against an unproductive offense.
C.J. Wilson is another of the Rangers starters that has come out of nowhere to produce in the rotation. He has a 3.03 ERA on the season with the Rangers going 14-6 in his 20 starts. The question is how long can this last? Not from a talent standpoint but from a fatigue standpoint. He has tossed 127.2 innings this year which is more than his last two years combined and over 50 innings more than his career high.
He may not collapse tonight but it is going to happen at some point and at this price, we take a chance with what looks like a very evenly matched pitching comparison. 9* Oakland A’s

Texas Rangers @ St. Louis Cardinals Friday October 28, 2011 8:05 pm
We witnessed arguably one of the greatest baseball games ever. Unfortunately we were on the losing side as the Rangers had a three-run lead in the seventh, a two-run lead in the eighth, a two-run lead in the ninth and another two-run lead in the 10th and failed to bring home the ... read more

Texas Rangers @ St. Louis Cardinals Thursday October 27, 2011 8:05 pm
We won with the Rangers again in Game Five and now Game Six shifts to St. Louis for a must win game for the Cardinals. That does not mean that St. Louis will win. Texas is in excellent position to bring home the World Series as the team that wins game five in a World Series tied ... read more

St. Louis Cardinals @ Texas Rangers Monday October 24, 2011 8:05 pm
Texas evened the series last night and pivotal Game Five is set for tonight with the winner having a huge edge heading into the final two games. It becomes more important for Texas because the final two games are in St. Louis so being up one game will be almost needed. The Rangers ... read more

St. Louis Cardinals @ Texas Rangers Sunday October 23, 2011 8:05 pm
It was a pretty ugly pitching performance from the Rangers last night as all six pitchers posted at least a 7.36 ERA while the reliable bullpen out up a putrid 18.56 ERA in 5.1 innings Saturday. I expect Texas to recover and while this is not a must win game because it is not elimination, ... read more

St. Louis Cardinals @ Texas Rangers Saturday October 22, 2011 8:05 pm
We had a bad read in Game Two as the bats did not come to life as expected. Through two games, St. Louis and Texas are averaging only 4.0 rpg. The last World Series that had an average like this was the 1963 Dodgers/Yankees World Series that finished with an average of just 4.0 rpg. ... read more

Texas Rangers @ St. Louis Cardinals Thursday October 20, 2011 8:05 pm
We won with the Cardinals last night as pitching took center stage with just five total runs scored on only 12 total hits, six by each team. I expect the bats to be more involved tonight as these two potent offenses cannot be kept down long. As a matter of fact, in their respective ... read more

Texas Rangers @ St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday October 19, 2011 8:05 pm
Game One of the World Series features two teams that do not know a whole lot about each other as this is the first meeting between Texas and St. Louis since 2004. Both teams come in off 4-2 series wins in their respective Championship Series with both finals games being relative ... read more

Detroit Tigers @ Texas Rangers Saturday October 15, 2011 8:05 pm
Three of those first four games of this series have gone over but this could easily be 3-1 to the under as two games went into extra innings and finished on a three-run home run and a grand slam. The first meeting between these two pitchers had the same posted total and we saw six ... read more

Milwaukee Brewers @ St. Louis Cardinals Friday October 14, 2011 8:05 pm
With the NLCS now tied at two games apiece, Game Five is crucial for both sides but I would say more so for the Cardinals. If St. Louis loses Game Five, they would then be faced with the task of winning the final two games in Milwaukee which looks to be next to impossible considering ... read more

Milwaukee Brewers @ St. Louis Cardinals Thursday October 13, 2011 8:05 pm
We caught a fortunate break last night in pushing the under with all seven runs being scored in the first two and half innings and then shutout baseball the best of the way. The fact that there were no runs over the final six innings actually helps us out here as the momentum from ... read more
