Michigan Wolverines at Nebraska Cornhuskers

Nebraska used to own one of the better home court advantages when it was part of the Big XII Conference but the home floor has not been a very big edge this season. The Huskers were decent during the non-conference portion of their schedule but even some of those wins were suspect, coming against teams like South Dakota, Rhode Island, Florida Gulf Coast and Alcorn St. Nebraska is 2-4 at home in conference action but other than a home win against Indiana, Nebraska hasn’t beaten anyone of note.

Michigan is coming off a loss against Michigan St. on Sunday which ended a string of six consecutive difficult games where it ended up 3-3. The Wolverines are 7-4 in the conference and with the difficult part of the big Ten schedule in the past, they can make a run at one of the top spots before the conference tournament in March. Michigan has had trouble on the road this season but with the exception of Iowa, it has been one of the toughest road slates around.

The Wolverines picked up a big win at Purdue just over two weeks ago and after road games at Ohio St. and Michigan St., they catch a break here. This is the first meeting between these two teams and while Michigan is unfamiliar with Nebraska, it goes both ways. The Wolverines have an RPI of 15 so barring any total collapse, they are fighting for a low seed in the NCAA Tournament. One way to avoid a drop is to not lose winnable games and this would be a bad loss on the résumé.

The Huskers will be without center Jorge Brian Diaz who is likely done for the year with foot problems. When he came back in January, Nebraska covered four straight games including that win against Penn St. and close road losses at Illinois and Wisconsin. His numbers are not spectacular but he provided a big presence inside and his absence is tough. Michigan is 8-1 ATS in its last nine games after an ATS loss while the Huskers are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games against teams with a losing road record. 9* (593) Michigan Wolverines
