St. Louis Cardinals at Texas Rangers
World Series Total Game of the Year (OVER) : The first two games of the Series were the lowest scoring first two games in something like 60 years of World Series History. The Cardinals are not going to try and get into a slug fest with the Rangers. While the Cards have some heavy hitters in the likes of Berkman and Puljols, they don't boast the top to bottom hitting prowess of the Rangers. Now that we are into the #4 starters of each teams rotation, we should look for a nice over spot and that's just what I am looking at today. Edwin Jackson will toe the rubber for the Cardinals and he did have a nice year for the birds, going 12-9 with a 3.79 ERA. He's also had a good post season, with the Cards winning all three of his starts. However, Jacks lasted just two innings in his last start against the Brewers, allowing four hits and four runs. That raised Jackson's postseason ERA to a lofty 5.84 ERA. Derek Holland will oppose for the Rangers. Holland, like Jackson, had a very good season with a 16-5 record and 3.95 ERA. But also like Jackson, he's seen his postseason ERA rise to 5.27. His last outing was a short 4.2 innings against Detroit, giving up seven hits and four runs. Holland has also walked six batters over 13 2/3 postseason innings while striking out just seven. I feel this is the perfect spot to play an OVER in this series. We have a good hitters park, two pitchers who have both given up runs in the post season and two offenses that will look to post more runs. Take the OVER.
