So who's going to control the tempo, fast-break Notre Dame, or defensive-oriented West Virginia? Well, the fact is Notre Dame is no longer an uptempo team, on a 6-0 run under the total. Notre Dame held off No. 16 Pittsburgh 50-45 in the Big East tournament quarterfinals Thursday night for its season-best sixth straight victory, allowing 38% shooting, so this run has been keyed by Big 'D'. Tourney time brings out more defensive efforts anyway with so much at stake, and that's fine with West Virginia, riding a 2-0 run under the total while allowing 58 ppg.
