Georgetown Hoyas at Syracuse Orange

Photo_cbb Take: (705) GEORGETOWN

Reason: Inner Circle: Georgetown.
You need big bodies in the paint against tall Syracuse, and Georgetown has it, anchored by 6-11 sophomore center Greg Monroe (16 ppg, 9.6 rpg). They have defense, too, as No. 8 seed Georgetown limited No. 9 seed South Florida to 29 percent shooting from the floor as the Hoyas topped the Bulls, 69-49, during the second round of the BIG EAST Tournament. Are they scared of mighty Syracuse? How about a 75-71 game when they met in the regular season, a game the Hoyas trailed by 13 at the half before a furious rally, never giving up. "You knew they were going to come back, and I think the reason they did is we just stopped scoring," Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said at the time. Georgetown won the battle of the boards and had more than a 2-to-1 edge in offensive rebounds. They have more than enough to give the Orange a close game again. Play Georgetown.

Michigan State Spartans @ Butler Bulldogs Saturday April 3, 2010 6:07 pm
Take: Under Reason: Can't see much scoring here, as Butler slows the tempo down (9-3 under run), as does Michigan State (6-4-1 under run). Butler (32-4) is about tempo and defense, allowing 59.6 ppg. The Bulldogs slow the pace down, on a 3-0 run under the total allowing 45, 59, ... read more

Saint Louis Billikens @ Virginia Commonwealth Rams Monday March 29, 2010 7:00 pm
So who is going to control the tempo? St Louis likes to slow it down, VCU likes to run. Well this is a championship round of the College Basketball Invitational tourney, Game 1 in the best of 3. Championship games usually means lots of DE-FENSE! St. Louis likes a slow, defensive ... read more

West Virginia Mountaineers @ Kentucky Wildcats Saturday March 27, 2010 7:05 pm
Take: UNDER Reason: West Virginia's defense allows 59.5 ppg in the Big East (4th), and they are on a 9-2 run under the total. Kentucky can play any style, but this game will be a slow, defenive game. Tourney games are often slow anyway as so much is at stake and teams that play ... read more
