North Carolina Tar Heels at Dayton Flyers
Reason: NIT Tourney Matchup Mismatch: Dayton. The Dayton Flyers will play for the tournament title against North Carolina on ESPN. Dayton is aptly named, flying up and down the court. Despite the offensive punch, this is an outstanding defensive team, allowing 62 ppg. They have excellent guard play, plus a terrific one-two punch on the boards with Chris Wright (13.7 ppg, 7.2 rog) and Chris Johnson (11.8 ppg, 6.9 rpg). Chris Johnson had 22 points and 10 rebounds to propel UD to a 68-63 win over Mississippi in the NIT semifinals Tuesday, while Chris Wright had nine points and 11 rebounds. Dayton is on a 4-0 Su/ATS run despite being an underdog in two of those games, so they want this title. And now only one game remains. While I'm convinced at how good Dayton is, North Carolina is not that impressive, a 20-16 team that is lucky to be here. The Tar Heels survived to defeat Rhode Island 68-67 in overtime Thursday night in the NIT semifinals. They scored the final five points of regulation to force overtime. The Tar Heels have won four straight, their longest win streak since starting the season 4-0. Dayton is the better team and will get the win and cover. Play Dayton.
