Love the odds for this game as these two teams played yesterday in LA and the Lakers rallied for the win late. Now, just as we thought, the bookies have installed the Nuggets as a slim favorite. This is one of the situations we love in the NBA when the same teams play a two-night home-and-home back-to-back. We were praying the Lakers won last night and indeed they did and that has created a nice line for a Nuggets team that should do lots of damage at home this season. When teams play two nights straight like this the losing team always gives a better effort the following night and this game is tailor-made for the Nuggets. First, the Lakers aren’t the same team we are used to seeing in previous years and we think this is a down year for them. This Nuggets team has great depth and they are well conditioned to play in the high altitude in Denver. The Lakers are going to have a hard time equaling the Nuggets energy and we think Denver is going to be a real tough team ATS at home, especially laying small points to quality opponents. Yesterday the Nuggets were in control most of the second half and we think they cruise to a relatively easy win on New Year’s Day. Denver is 10-3-2 ATS in their last 15 at home. We think this team will put up a real high percentage of ATS wins here in Denver all season.
