St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets

3-Unit Play Take #951 St. Louis Cardinals over New York Mets (7:10p.m.) The Cardinals went on the road this past weekend and scored 29-runs in the 3-game sweep of the Royals.  It puts them in the lead in the NL Central.  The Mets have had an opportunity to take over the top spot in the NL East as the Phillies are mired in a six game losing streak.  They have not been up to the task of challenging, as they are now 6-12 in the month of June.  Everything appears wrong with this team.  The disabled list is overtaxed, the starting pitchers can’t go deep into games, and the bullpen sucks.  Tim  Redding (0-2,6.27) is on the mound for the Mets tonight.  Albert Pujols is hitting .407 against Redding.  He comes into NY as HOT as can be.  Against the Mets in April, Albert had one of the many outstanding series’ this season.  He is making a strong case to land his second straight NL MVP award, and third overall.  The Cards played through the funk they appeared to be in several weeks back.  Now, with their confidence level extremely high, the Mets should be easy pickings.   Todd Wellemeyer (6-6, 5.36), is coming off a good outing.  Like St. Lou to sustain their good play.
