Los Angeles Lakers at Boston Celtics

This line is a very public line and we were expecting a 4 ½ line here and we would have liked the Celtics at that number. The Lakers are the biggest public team in basketball and the oddsmakers and media are giving the Celtics no chance in this series. The Celtics won both meetings this season easy. Yes, the Lakers didn’t have Pau Gasol and that is a factor but we don’t see it as that big of a factor in the Lakers dominating this series like the general public and media does. We think this series will be similar to the rest of the playoffs and the home teams should be strong throughout. Kobe will get his points even though he didn’t have great games against the Celtics this season but the Lakers won’t be able to contain all of Boston’s Big Three and that will be the difference. This Boston team had a couple of long series this playoffs but this is a new team and their first playoffs together and they have been really learning as they have gone along and had their best series against a very good Detroit team. Their defense is much better than the Lakers and we feel that the Celtics will keep the Lakers in check tonight. Five straight games for LA have gone under (they played another strong defensive team in San Antonio) and three of the last four for Boston have gone under.
