Edinson Volquez will toe the rubber for the Reds looking for his 14th victory on the season. He has certainly lived up to his end of the bargain in the trade for Josh Hamilton. He is 6-1 when pitching at Great American Ballpark with a 3.34 E.R.A. and that will be good enough for the victory on Tuesday. Dave Bush is just 1-3 against the Reds in his career and has just one victory in his last five starts. This one belongs to the Reds.
3 Unit Play. #910 Take St. Louis over Los Angeles (8:15 pm MLB.tv) The Dodgers were on an emotional high this weekend picking up Man-ram and cruising to victories over Arizona on Saturday/Sunday. But they now find themselves on the road and that energy from the crowd is nowhere to be found. Chris Carpenter will be making his second start of the season for the Red Birds and pitched well in the opener going four innings and allowing just one run. In three starts against the Dodgers he is 3-0 with a 3.00 E.R.A. and expect him to notch win No. 4 tonight @ Busch Stadium. His opponent will be Chad Billingsley and he has yet to record a victory against the Birds in his career. The Dodgers have not been able to handle prosperity all season long and whenever they get close to the Snakes, they go on a losing streak. We are banking on that this evening.
3 Unit Play. #929 Take Tampa Bay over Cleveland (7:10 pm MLB.tv) The Rays have yet to be the Indians in 2008, but that will end tonight as they have the edge in the pitching department. Fausto Carmona is making his second start since coming back from the DL and was not that impressive in the first, giving up four runs in just over six innings of work. His opponent will be Edwin Jackson and is four appearances against the Indians, he has a 2.61 E.R.A. Tampa Bay plays too well at Tropicana Field to drop two games in a row against Cleveland and they will take care of business on Tuesday setting up the rubber game on Wednesday.
