New York Yankees at Philadelphia Phillies

At 7:55 pm our selection is on the Philadelphia Phillies over the New York Yankees.  With their backs against the wall and only 1 loss away from losing the World Series after winning it all last season, Philadelphia will turn to the one weapon that the Yankees seemingly have not found an answer to and that is their left-handed ace, Cliff Lee.  Lee has pitched so well since joining the Phillies, that had he spent the entire season with them, he would likely be in line for his second straight Cy Young award.  But individual accolades are the furthest thing from his mind right now as it is do or die for his squad tonight.  However, the starter that the Phillies will be facing is no slouch in Yankee righthanded veteran AJ Burnett.  Burnett had by far his best outing of his first career post-season when he shut down the Phillies in game 2 in the Bronx.  The problem is that the 3 games in which he's excelled have all been at home and this will be only Burnett's second start on the road in the post-season, and the first one in Anaheim in game 5 of the ALCS did not go well at all as Burnett allowed six earned runs on eight hits in just six innings.  Having been a Florida Marlin for several years, Burnett has pitched at Citizens Bank Park before, but he only has two victories (to go with three losses) in six appearances (five starts) there.  Heading into this year, since 2000, six of the nine World Series have gone at least 5 games and the home team has won 5 of the 6 game 5s during that time.  Take the Phillies.  As always, good luck...Al McMordie.
