BYU Cougars at Arizona Wildcats

At 8 pm, our selection is on the BYU Cougars plus the points over Arizona.  This is BYU's post-season "home-away-from-home" as the Cougars will be making their fourth consecutive trip to the Las Vegas Bowl.  Last year, BYU nipped UCLA 17-16 on a blocked field goal as time expired.  These two teams actually met in the previous two seasons.  In 2007, BYU won 20-7 in Provo, while Arizona triumphed 16-13 in Tucson in 2006.  Arizona comes into this game off a 31-10 win over rival Arizona State to end its season, but the Wildcats are a terrible 24-43 ATS off a pointspread win since 1994, and an even worse 8-30 ATS as a favorite vs. .500 (or better) foes since 1990, including 1-8 ATS vs. non-conference foes.  BYU lost 48-24 at Utah to end its season, but oftentimes, teams off losses at the end of a regular season are incentivized to perform well in the bowl games.  In the Las Vegas Bowl, for example, teams off a loss are a perfect 5-0 ATS vs. foes off a SU/ATS win.  Look for BYU to get the money on Saturday night.  Take the points.  Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.  And don't miss my NFL Winners this weekend.
