At 8 pm, our selection is on the Texas Longhorns + the points over Alabama, as Texas falls into several of my best systems, with records of 44-14, 21-7, 82-42, 55-26, 65-26, 98-62, and 84-40 ATS. Let's take a look at our 84-40 angle. It goes against .500 (or better) teams priced from -3.5 to -11 points off six or more wins, provided they covered by six or more points in their previous game. With Alabama in off a blowout, 32-13 upset win over Florida, the Crimson Tide fall squarely within this negative situation. And, if our 'play against' team is rested, then our 84-40 angle moves to 27-11 ATS. Texas has won five straight bowl games (and seven of its last eight), while Alabama is just 3-5 straight-up and 2-6 ATS in its last eight bowl games. Admittedly, Alabama has a great defense, as it ranks #1 in scoring defense (11 ppg), and #2 in total defense (241.8 ypg). But Texas' stop unit isn't chopped liver: It ranked first in the country with 62.9 rushing yards per game, and third in total defense with 251.8 ypg. And Texas also was #1 with 24 interceptions, so Bama QB Greg McElroy will have to be ultra-careful with his throws. Texas is a solid 23-9 ATS as underdogs (or PK) since 1993, including a PERFECT 8-0 ATS when playing with rest! Finally, College Bowl games between two great defensive teams (who surrender less than 15.2 ppg) generally go to the Underdog, as dogs are 36-17 ATS since 1981, including 27-7 if our dog has an .820 or better win percentage. 5* College Football Game of the Year on Texas.
