San Diego State Aztecs at UNLV Runnin' Rebels

At 10 pm, our selection is on the UNLV Rebels minus the points over San Diego State.  The Rebels circled this game on their calendar months ago, as it not only is their Conference home opener, but it is against a team that defeated them three times last season, including an upset win here last March at the Thomas & Mack Center -- the Rebels' home court -- in the Mountain West Conference Tournament.  So, I expect an intense and focused effort by UNLV tonight, and the Rebels also fall into a super 68% ATS system of mine.  That angle plays on triple-revenging teams, off a win, with a .334 (or better) win percentage, who are matched up against a foe off a straight-up loss.  In its last game, UNLV blew out then-No. 15-ranked New Mexico, 74-62, while SDSU fell 85-83 at Wyoming.  And that 85-83 score doesn't tell the whole story, as San Diego State was up by 14 points, with less than five minutes left (and by eight points, with less than two minutes), but completely collapsed.  In general, it's tough for teams to bounce back from such an emotional defeat.  However, San Diego State's task will be even more difficult tonight, as it lost leading scorer Billy White to an ankle injury nine days ago.  White leads the conference in field goal percentage (62.5%), while averaging 12.3 ppg, and 5.4 rpg.   UNLV is a solid 105-74 ATS off a win over the past 12 seasons.  College Basketball Roadkill on UNLV.  Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.
