New Orleans Hornets at San Antonio Spurs

Photo_nba At 9:30 pm, our selection is on the San Antonio Spurs minus the points over New Orleans. Although the Spurs are down two games to none in this series, don't count out the Champs just yet. And they can certainly thank the NBA front office for the schedule, as San Antonio will play tonight with two days of rest, and that's a big advantage for this aging, veteran-laden crew. Indeed, since 2003, the Spurs are a solid 27-13 ATS when playing with at least two days' of rest in the post-season (compared to 29-26 ATS when playing with just one day off). In the first two games, the Spurs were reluctant to drive the lane, and instead passed off to teammates around the perimeter for 3-point shots. Obviously, that strategy has failed Gregg Popovich's crew, and tonight, we will see a big dose of Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker coming into the paint to challenge Tyson Chandler & Co. We also will see more of swingman Brent Barry, who has been the most reliable Spur (albeit in limited minutes) vs. the Hornets. Finally, it's worth noting that the Spurs have had leads at the halves of both games, but succumbed to bursts by the Hornets in the 3rd quarters of Games 1 and 2.
