Chicago White Sox at Kansas City Royals
At 8:10pm our selection is on the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals 'under' the total. White Sox veteran righthander Mark Buehrle looked like his old self through most of June, with a 4-0 record and 1.60 ERA in six starts for the third month of the season. But the wheels came off a bit in Buehrle's first start of July, as he gave up ten hits and three walks in less than six innings against Oakland on Independence Day. But with a guy like Buehrle, who has a history as a very smart and stingy pitcher, one outing like that can be excused and nobody would be surprised to see Buehrle return tonight with one of his patented eight-inning, one-or-two run starts against a very weak team that he has feasted on in the past. All this guy has done against their division rivals (if you can call Kansas City a 'rival') is go 16-6 with a 3.40 ERA lifetime along with an 8-4 record at tonight's venue, Kauffman Stadium. KC's 24-year-old Zack Greinke is one of the most underrated starters in all of baseball, having pitched all five of his Major League seasons with the Royals which of course results in a losing record (28-40) but along the way, Greinke has only had one season with an ERA over 4.3 runs. In 2008, Greinke is undefeated at home in six starts (3-0) with a 2.57 ERA. Greinke actually has a lower ERA on the season than his counterpart for the White Sox (3.67 vs. 3.91).
