Tampa Bay Rays at Cleveland Indians

At 7:05pm our selection is on the Tampa Bay Rays over the Cleveland Indians.  This game will feature two pitchers names Matt: Garza for the Rays and Ginter for the Indians.  Although Garza is the 24-year-old in his first full major league season (and third overall) and Ginter is the 30-year-old, it is probably the elder Ginter who feels more like a rookie in this game.  Ginter has not pitched at the Major League level since the 2005 season when he appeared in only 14 games (starting one of those) for the Detroit Tigers.  Ginter is a bit of a rarity these day, as there aren't many professional pitchers who have pitched eight straight seasons in the minors only at the AAA level.  Ginter has made occasional trips up to the Major League level in those eight years, but has never pitched more than 70 innings at the big show and has never had a Major League ERA under 4.4 runs in any of those seasons.  Garza has not faced the Indians yet in 2008, but beat them twice last season on August 4 (3-2) and July 29 (4-1).  This will be Ginter's first appearance in a Major League game in 2008, and the Indians have been installed as an underdog.  Unfortunately, they're 8-22 as an underdog this year, while Tampa Bay is 37-16 as a favorite.  Take the Rays.  As always, good luck...Al McMordie
