Tennesse Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars

Photo_nfl I'm taking the points with JACKSONVILLE. These teams faced each other way back in Week 1. I successfully played on the Titans in that game. Despite playing at home, the Titans were getting three points, which I felt provided us with excellent value. What a difference a couple of months makes! Now, the same two teams are playing at Jacksonville, yet it's the Jaguars which are getting points. Once again, I feel that the value lies with the home underdog.

The Jags are much better than their 4-5 record indicates and they're coming off an excellent game. They fell behind early but responded by pounding Detroit by a 38-14 count. While the offense was having a monster day, the defense recorded seven sacks and limited the Lions to just 256 yards. Yes, that win was against a bad Detroit team. However, it's been my experience that a blowout victory over a "bad" team can often be just what a struggling "good" team needs, in order to get rolling. Coach Del Rio had this to say on the subject: "We need to use this as a game to build on and utilize going forward as a stepping stone, certainly not a place to arrive at. It's a nice step in the right direction."

This is a difficult scheduling spot for the Titans, as they will be playing two road games in two weeks for the only time this entire season. (They did play back to back road games once this season but they were separated by a bye week.) Looking back to last year and we find that the Titans were defeated by double-digits each of the last two times they played the second of back to back road games, played in consecutive weeks. They lost 17-6 at San Diego on 1/6/08 after playing at Indianapolis the previous week. Prior to that, almost exactly one year ago, they were crushed 35-6 at Cincinnati, after having played at Denver the previous week. In addition to playing the second of back to back road games, it should be noted that each of Tennessee's last two games has been extremely physical. Both games were very close and both games were very hard-hitting. Those type of games eventually take a toll and I expect it to catch up with the Titans this week. On the other hand, the Jags are coming off several games against relatively "soft" defenses, which means their games arguably haven't been as physically demanding.

While catching the Titans for first place in the South is out of the question, the Jags certainly haven't given up on obtaining a Wildcard spot. That being said, they know they need to win this game or achieving that goal will become significantly more difficult. The Jags came into the season thinking that this was going to be their year and instead its the Titans who are "stealing their glory." That all got started in the Week 1 loss and the Jags are ready to make amends and serve up a healthy dish of payback. The Jags are a highly profitable 14-6 ATS the last 20 times they were listed as underdogs, winning 11 of those games outright. Look for them to build off last week's victory with a huge effort here. *Revenge GOY
