Houston Astros at San Francisco Giants

I'm laying the price with SAN FRANCISCO. With Oswalt on the mound, the Astros defeated Zito and the Giants yesterday. However, I believe that tonight's matchup will favor the home team. While he struggled at Pittsburgh last time out, the Giants are still 3-1 in Cain's last four starts and he has a 2.81 ERA during that stretch. For the season, he has a respectable 3.31 ERA at home, tossing 5 1/3 shutout innings in his last start here, a 4-0 win over Colorado. The Giants are now 6-4 his last 10 home starts. Conversely, Backe has an ugly 6.16 ERA with an awful 2.053 WHIP in his four road starts this season. Not surprisingly, the Astros lost all four of those games, getting outscored 20-6 in the process. Note that Backe averaged a mere 4 2/3 innings per outing over those four games. The Astros are now 2-8 in his last 10 road starts, dating back to the start of the 2006 season. Look for Cain to outpitch Backe as the Giants cool off the Astros, bounce back from yesterday's loss and improve to 15-5 the last 20 times they were a host in this series.
