There are moments in a series where the team which is theory the favorite finds their momentum and when that happens, it's extremely hard for the dog to even be capable of fighting for the win, as the edge is all on the side of the favorite. This happened yesterday with Detroit slaughtered the Sixers by 100-77 and today the same will happen with Boston against Atlanta. The bottom line is that Boston and Detroit are much better than Atlanta and Philadelphia and what were making these two series so close was the fact that the favorites weren't playing at their best level. Once the Pistons and the Celtics arrived to their best level, there was no way Atlanta and the Sixers could get another win in their series against the two best teams in the Eastern conference.
Boston after two terrible games at Atlanta where they shot terribly (44.4% FG in the Game 3 and 41.2% FG in the Game 4) made their best offensive game of the series yet on the Game 5, scoring 110 points and shooting 53.6% (45-84) FG and most important than that is that all the stars of Boston were all in a good shooting night. Ray Allen shot 6-14 FG and 5-8 3pts, Garnett 8-15 FG, Pierce 10-17 FG and Cassell 6-8 FG. Well when these players come to a match carrying a momentum and with a good scoring touch, this streak continues in the following game, as Atlanta doesn't have the power to stop these guys.
Atlanta managed to win their two home games against Boston it was mainly (especially in the Game 4) thanks to individual actions of their best players and not because a good offensive dynamic. In the Game 4 they made 16 assists and 17 turnovers and even in the last game they made 16 assists and 13 turnovers. To have an idea, Boston made 26 assists and 10 turnovers in the Game 4 and 28 assists and 10 turnovers in the Game 5. So the main question in here is to know if Joe Johnson or Josh Smith can be stopped and the answer is yes! Boston in the Game 5 changed their strategy to defend Joe Johnson, using multiple double teams on him and they managed that Johnson shot 11 FG in that game, when he shot 18 FG in the Game 3 and 24 FG in the Game 4. Today Boston will do the same and that scenario Boston has all the conditions for a big win and I think this will be a blowout game for the Celtics. Take Boston in here.
