About Matt Fargo Sports

My Handicapping and Betting Philosophy
I approach each and every game as its own separate element. No two games, matchups, etc. are ever the same and therefore, they cannot be treated that way. I research everything pertaining to a particular game and you see the results in the extensive analysis that I provide as well as wins and losses.
My Handicapping Experience
15 Years
My Special Achievments in Handicapping
Only two losing seasons, none in the past eight years. Numerous first-place finishes in college football and basketball along with top tens in pro baseball, football and basketball.
My Most Memorable Moment
Winning with the New York Giants over the Patriots in last year’s Super Bowl with both the spread and money line. There were not many believers out there but I was a big one.
Biggest Win of my Career
I have taken the approach that even though some games are weighted more in units, every win is the same because it shows I have done my job to the best of my ability.
Toughest Loss of my Career
Similar to wins, I consider all losses being big ones. No one wins all of the time and the best that a person can do is to take those losses and learn from them. It stresses harder work going forward and that means learning more every day.
Favorite Team(s) to Play or Fade
It varies by sport but streaks, both good and bad, are looked at. Momentum is huge in sports and wins and losses can be very contagious.
What You Can Expect From Me
I am one of the hardest workers there is as I put in 12-15 hours per day in my handicapping. I have always believed the harder you work, the greater the rewards and that is definitely the case in this industry. When you choose me, you know you are getting 110 percent.

"I've always made a total effort, even when the odds seemed entirely against me. I never quit trying; I never felt that I didn't have a chance to win." -Arnold Palmer

Matt Fargo Sports Past Picks
Michigan Wolverines @ Nebraska Cornhuskers Wednesday February 8, 2012 8:30 pm
Nebraska used to own one of the better home court advantages when it was part of the Big XII Conference but the home floor has not been a very big edge this season. The Huskers were decent during the non-conference portion of their schedule but even some of those wins were suspect, ... read more
Indiana Pacers @ Atlanta Hawks Wednesday February 8, 2012 7:35 pm
The Hawks are in a funk right now. After winning five of six games to close out January, they have lost their last three games, all of which have come at home and all were very winnable games. Losing to Memphis and Philadelphia are not horrible losses but the most recent defeat against ... read more
Los Angeles Clippers @ Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday February 8, 2012 7:05 pm
Cleveland has played a very tough schedule since the end of January as it has faced Boston twice, Orlando, Dallas and Miami over its last five games and coming out of those at 2-3 isn't that bad. The Cavaliers are coming off a loss at Miami last night as the game was relatively close ... read more
Kansas Jayhawks @ Baylor Bears Wednesday February 8, 2012 7:00 pm
Kansas is coming off a tough loss on Saturday at Missouri and things will not get any easier here as it travels to Waco with first place in the Big XII on the line. The Jayhawks and Bears both trail Missouri by a half-game but this game is arguably bigger for Baylor. A loss here ... read more
Oklahoma City Thunder @ Golden State Warriors Tuesday February 7, 2012 10:35 pm
Oklahoma City came away with a big overtime win last night in Portland and I expect a bit of a letdown following that. The Thunder have not alternated wins and losses in each of their last five road games and while tonight's game may seem like a relief after last night, that won't ... read more
Phoenix Suns @ Milwaukee Bucks Tuesday February 7, 2012 8:05 pm
Matt is coming off a tough overtime loss with Portland but is still on an AWESOME 14-7 NBA run and his streak going back to last year remains RED HOT as he is a COMMANDING 48-28-1 (63.2%) L77! He is back with a HUGE REPORT Tuesday and it is a BEAUTY that results in an EASY COVER! ... read more
New York Islanders @ Philadelphia Flyers Tuesday February 7, 2012 7:05 pm
The Flyers are coming off a loss against the Rangers on Sunday which pushed them five points behind New York for first place in the Eastern Conference. It was the second straight loss for Philadelphia which is just 1-2-1 since returning from the All-Star break. One of the best home ... read more
Florida Gators @ Kentucky Wildcats Tuesday February 7, 2012 7:00 pm
First place is on the line in the SEC tonight. Even though a Florida win would still have it a half-game back from Kentucky, the all-important head-to-head win would go a lot further. The Gators have won seven straight games since a loss at Tennessee back at the start of January. ... read more
Oklahoma City Thunder @ Portland Trailblazers Monday February 6, 2012 10:05 pm
The Thunder are coming off a loss on Saturday at San Antonio and while they have lost back-to-back games only once this season, being the favorite hear is a stretch. They have been the road favorite in 11 of their 13 games on the road but the two games they have not been favored ... read more
New York Giants @ New England Patriots Sunday February 5, 2012 6:30 pm
The Giants are coming off their second straight playoff game where they were outgained but still pulled off the win as turnovers once again played a big role. It was unfortunate the way the 49ers season ended but you still have to give credit to the Giants as the defensive intensity ... read more
Denver Nuggets @ Portland Trailblazers Saturday February 4, 2012 10:05 pm
This is the third game in three nights for the Nuggets which is the second time they have encountered this situation this season. They started off with a game in Los Angeles against the Clippers and then traveled back home to face the Lakers and are now off on the road once again ... read more
Kansas Jayhawks @ Missouri Tigers Saturday February 4, 2012 9:00 pm
Could this finally be the year? In what is the last meeting between Kansas and Missouri in Columbia in the Border War, it would be fitting for the Tigers to snap their five-game losing streak to Kansas at home before they bolt to the SEC. Missouri is undefeated at home with a 12-0 ... read more
Oregon Ducks @ Colorado Buffaloes Saturday February 4, 2012 9:00 pm
Oregon is coming off a win at Utah that was a lot tougher than expected. The Ducks were tied at halftime and actually fell behind midway through the second half but used an 11-0 run to pull away in what can be considered a misleading final score. Oregon improved to 16-6 overall including ... read more
Cal Santa Barbara Gauchos @ Cal State Fullerton Titans Saturday February 4, 2012 9:00 pm
Catching Long Beach St. is the Big West Conference but CS-Fullerton does have a chance at catching Santa Barbara for second place and it can do so with a win on Saturday. The Titans are coming off a lopsided victory over a decent Cal Poly team on Thursday as they won by 22 points ... read more
St. Louis Blues @ Nashville Predators Saturday February 4, 2012 8:05 pm
We won with St. Louis last night but we will be going against the Blues tonight. They won at home against the Kings to improve to 22-3-4 at home, adding to their league leading win total at home. Things have not been as good on the road as the Blues are just 8-10-3 away from home ... read more
Georgia Bulldogs @ Tennessee Volunteers Saturday February 4, 2012 8:00 pm
The Volunteers are off to a 2-5 start in the SEC but the schedule has had a lot to do with that. They have lost to Kentucky twice, Vanderbilt and Mississippi St. which is a trio of elite teams. The other loss came at Georgia in overtime so the Volunteers have some extra incentive ... read more
Philadelphia 76ers @ Atlanta Hawks Saturday February 4, 2012 7:05 pm
We played on the Hawks on Thursday and that was an absolutely horrible call as they fell down early and seemed to give up as they were blown out by 19 points against Memphis in a game that was even worse than that final score indicates. Still, Atlanta is 8-2 at home this season and ... read more
Orlando Magic @ Indiana Pacers Saturday February 4, 2012 7:05 pm
Orlando is coming off back-to-back wins for the first time since mid-January but those were against Washington and Cleveland and both came at home so it is not overly impressive. The Magic have really been struggling since a five-game winning streak as they are 4-6 over their last ... read more
Iowa State Cyclones @ Oklahoma Sooners Saturday February 4, 2012 6:00 pm
It was a promising start to the season for Oklahoma which started out 10-2 in non-conference action but it has been a struggle since the Big XII got going. The Sooners are 3-6 in the conference but to their credit, the losses have come against some steep competition as they have ... read more
Middle Tenn State Blue Raiders @ Denver University Pioneers Saturday February 4, 2012 4:00 pm
I've had this game circled for a while and we got the wish of Middle Tennessee St. coming into this contest undefeated in the Sun Belt Conference. The Blue Raiders are off to an incredible start at 21-3 including a perfect 10-0 in the SBC which sets up a great spot for Denver ... read more
Arizona Wildcats @ Stanford Cardinal Saturday February 4, 2012 3:00 pm
Matt has erupted for a POWERFUL 95-53-3 (64.2%) run to start 2012 which includes an AWESOME 38-24-3 (61.7%) in CBB! It is Super Bowl weekend and Matt has big plans! He has EIGHT CBB Plays Saturday and all are available right now! Do not forget his 10* Super Bowl Enforcer as he extends ... read more
Arkansas Razorbacks @ LSU Tigers Saturday February 4, 2012 1:45 pm
LSU is coming off a loss at home against Kentucky last Saturday which was expected but what was not expected was the fact that the Tigers looked to have given up midway through the second half which is not part of the persona of this team. It was their fifth loss in six games in ... read more
Seton Hall Pirates @ Connecticut Huskies Saturday February 4, 2012 12:00 pm
The Huskies have lost four straight games, which includes three games from the Big East, and what started as a very promising season has gone downhill fast. Connecticut lost three of those games by three points or less but it is coming off its worst showing of the season as it lost ... read more
Memphis Grizzlies @ Oklahoma City Thunder Friday February 3, 2012 8:05 pm
Memphis came away with a big road win on Thursday at Atlanta and while that was a horrible call on my part, it at least sets us up for an opportunity to go against the Grizzlies again in a much tougher situation. It was the second straight victory for the Grizzlies against a quality ... read more
Los Angeles Kings @ St. Louis Blues Friday February 3, 2012 8:05 pm
The Blues are the last team to play a game since the All-Star break so they should be pretty fired up to get back in action, especially the way things ended prior to the break. St. Louis was on an 8-0-1 run before losing at Detroit, which all teams have been doing, and then losing ... read more
