My Handicapping and Betting Philosophy

The tortoise always beats the hare.  In other words, slow and steady wins the race. The only approach one can take to sports betting is a long term approach and I promise you will win over the long haul with my selections.

My Handicapping Experience

9 years handicapping experience.

My Special Achievments in Handicapping

65-41 (61.3%) 2006 NFL Regular Season was best of career.  2007 MLB Handicapping Champion at Vegas Insider (+5005 Units).  Average +2500 units for $100 players L6 years in MLB.

My Most Memorable Moment

I released a win bet on Rags to Riches for the 2007 Belmont Stakes.  We were all over this Filly as she became just the third ever to capture Belmont Stakes glory and the first since 1905 in the 139th running of the storied race.

Biggest Win of my Career

I released a top 5* selection on Texas catching 7.5 points against the USC Trojans in the 2006 BCS Title game.  A Versatile QB by the name of Vince Young gave the Trojans all kinds of problems as expected and the Horns won the game outright by a 3-point margin to claim the National Title.

Toughest Loss of my Career

Back in the 2004 NCAA Basketball Tournament when Chris Duhon hit a meaningless half court shot at the buzzer to cost me a cover.  I was already counting my winnings on that one and was sell shocked for the days that followed.

Favorite Team(s) to Play or Fade

I like to take under the radar teams from minor and mid major conferences as oddsmakers don't always have a great feel for these teams, often leaving us with a nice advantage.  Specifically, Youngstown State is one that sticks out in my mind. Here again in 2008 college hoops action, Youngstown State has been poor straight up in Horizon League play, but the Penguins have been very strong against the number.

What You Can Expect From Me

Expect consistent winners in every sport I handicap because winning is the only thing that matters to me.  We may have a losing day or two, but over the long haul you'll always come out on top.

"It's not always the best team that beats the books.  It's the best number."

Jimmy Boyd Past Picks

Los Angeles Lakers @ Utah Jazz Friday May 16, 2008 10:30 pm
5* 2nd Round Elimination GOTY on LA Lakers +4 I like the Lakers to send Utah home for the summer tonight. The Lakers were catching 3 points in game 4 and sent the game into OT. Tonight, with a chance to move on ito the conference semifinals, I like Kobe's killer instinct to kick ... read more

Detroit Tigers @ Arizona Diamondbacks Friday May 16, 2008 9:40 pm
3* D-Backs -133 (listing Haren) Arizona is 18-6 against the money line when playing against a team with a losing record this season and 16-4 against the money line vs. teams outscored by their opponents by 0.5 or more runs/game on the season this season. Detroit is 0-11 against ... read more

Boston Celtics @ Cleveland Cavaliers Friday May 16, 2008 8:00 pm
3* Celtics +2.5 With Boobie Gibson not able to go tonight, Lebron is down one of his best supporting cast players. The Celtics have yet to win on the road in the postseason which makes them overdue here. The Underdog is 8-3-1 ATS in the last 12 meetings in this matchup. The Cavaliers ... read more

Oakland Athletics @ Atlanta Braves Friday May 16, 2008 7:35 pm
3* Braves -141 (listing Jurrjens) Jurrjens is a perfect 8-0 against the money line in home games over the last 2 seasons. The Braves are 14-4 against the money line in home games in the first half of the season this season. The A's are really struggling, having lost 3 in a row ... read more

New York Mets @ New York Yankees Friday May 16, 2008 7:05 pm
4* Major Big Apple Battle on Mets -141 (listing Santana) The Yankees are clearly struggling and I don't think home field will be enough to stop those struggles tonight against their crosstown rivals. The Mets are 5-0 in Santana's last 5 starts, 5-0 in Santana's last 5 starts during ... read more

New Orleans Hornets @ San Antonio Spurs Thursday May 15, 2008 9:00 pm
3* Hornets +7 The Hornets are oh so close to marching into the conference finals and they just might get there with a win tonight. But regardless, we have to take the points here as this thing will go right down to the wire. New Orleans is 31-15 ATS versus poor foul drawing teams ... read more

New York Yankees @ Tampa Bay Rays Thursday May 15, 2008 4:10 pm
3* Rays -149 (listing Kazmir and Kennedy) The Yanks are in trouble without A-Rod and Posada. They are especially in trouble tonight because Jeter, Cano, and Matsui are a combined 7 for 51 in their last 51 plate appearances against Kazmir. The Rays are 11-1 in their last 12 home ... read more

Houston Astros @ San Francisco Giants Thursday May 15, 2008 3:45 pm
3* Giants -151 (listing Lincecum) The Giants have been unstoppable behind the right arm of Tim Lincecum and that's enough reason for me to back them today. Lincecum is 5-1 this season with a 1.61 ERA. The Giants are 4-0 in Lincecum's last 4 starts after allowing 5 runs or more ... read more

Utah Jazz @ Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday May 14, 2008 10:30 pm
4* Major Bookie Blood Bath of the Month on Lakers -8.5 After dropping two straight games at Utah, I fully expect the Lakers to come roaring back in game 5 at home tonight. The Lakers won both games 1 and 2 by double digits and I like them to explode to beat the Jazz by an even ... read more

Atlanta Braves @ Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday May 14, 2008 7:05 pm
1 Unit on Phillies -141 (listing Myers and Glavine) The Phillies have dominated the Braves recently, winning 9 of the last 13 matchups and I like the Phillies again tonight against a Braves team which is yet to get things figured out on the road. The Braves are 7-19 in their last ... read more

Boston Red Sox @ Baltimore Orioles Wednesday May 14, 2008 3:05 pm
3* Red Sox -123 (listing Lester and Cabrera) The Red Sox own the O's and especially Cabrera. The Orioles are 0-7 in Cabrera's last 7 starts vs. the Red Sox. The Orioles are also 1-10 in their last 11 home games vs. a left-handed starter and 2-10 in their last 12 Wednesday games. ... read more

Seattle Mariners @ Texas Rangers Wednesday May 14, 2008 2:05 pm
3* Mariners +115 (action) I like the Mariners to salvage a game in the finale of this 3-game set. The Mariners are 5-2 in their last 7 games after losing the first 2 games of a series. Plays on all teams when the money line is +125 to -125 (SEATTLE) - with a team batting average ... read more

Houston Astros @ San Francisco Giants Tuesday May 13, 2008 10:15 pm
3* Astros +113 (listing Backe and Cain) The Astros are red hot and they'll come up with another win tonight against the terrible Matt Cain. The Giants are 5-22 in Cain's last 27 starts vs. a team with a winning record, 0-4 in Cain's last 4 starts vs. the National League Central, ... read more

San Antonio Spurs @ New Orleans Hornets Tuesday May 13, 2008 9:30 pm
5* Game 5 BEST BET on New Orleans Hornets -4 The Spurs really haven't been that great of a road team all season long at just 1 game over .500 to this point while the Hornets have been strong at home with a 35-11 SU and 30-16 ATS record. The Home team is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings. ... read more

Pittsburgh Pirates @ St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday May 13, 2008 8:15 pm
1 Unit on St. Louis Cardinals -151 The Cards have been one of the best home teams in the league in the early going while the Pirates have been one of the worst on the road. We'll take the Red Birds at home tonight as they look to rebound from a series loss to the Brewers. First ... read more

Los Angeles Dodgers @ Milwaukee Brewers Tuesday May 13, 2008 8:05 pm
3* Brewers -111 (listing Penny and Villanueva) The Dodgers are 2-11 in their last 13 games following an off day, 0-4 in their last 4 vs. the National League Central, and 0-4 in their last 4 overall. The Brewers are 5-0 in their last 5 vs. the National League West, 7-2 in their ... read more

San Diego Padres @ Chicago Cubs Tuesday May 13, 2008 8:05 pm
3* Cubs -1.5 +115 (listing Marquis) The Cubs dominated the Padres last night and we cashed in on it with our free selection. I'll take it on the premium side tonight as I like them to do it again. The Cubs are 15-4 in Marquis' last 19 home starts, 13-3 in Marquis' last 16 starts ... read more

Florida Marlins @ Cincinnati Reds Tuesday May 13, 2008 7:10 pm
3* Marlins +147 (listing Hendrickson) The Marlins are an 11-6 road team and they are being terribly undervalued here. The Marlins are 7-1 in their last 8 overall and 5-1 in their last 6 vs. a team with a losing record. The Marlins are 6-1 in Hendrickson's last 7 starts, 5-0 in ... read more

Houston Astros @ San Francisco Giants Monday May 12, 2008 10:15 pm
3* Astros-142 (listing Oswalt and Zito ) The 'stros are on fire and we'll take them tonight with their ace on the hill against the struggling Giants and the terrible Barry Zito. The Astros have won 8 of their last 9 games and the numbers show they'll focus even more tonight after ... read more

Boston Celtics @ Cleveland Cavaliers Monday May 12, 2008 8:00 pm
3* Cavs -1.5 While we have to expect Boston to play better on the road in game 4, we also have to expect a game 3 win by Cleveland to boost its confidence. With as poor as the Celtics have looked throughout the postseason on the road, taking the Cavs at home in game 4 is the call. ... read more

Boston Red Sox @ Minnesota Twins Sunday May 11, 2008 8:05 pm
4* MLB ESPN Game of the Week on Red Sox -121 (listing Wakefield and Blackburn) We're getting Boston at a great price here against a pitcher they will crush. The Twins are 1-5 in Blackburn's last 6 starts as an underdog and 0-4 in Blackburn's last 4 starts after allowing 5 runs ... read more

Chicago White Sox @ Seattle Mariners Sunday May 11, 2008 4:10 pm
3* Mariners +102 (listing Floyd and Batista) The M's are due and I like what they bring to the table today. Batista has had great success against the Sox, with the M's going 6-1 against them in his starts. The Mariners are also 7-2 at home against the Sox the last 3 seasons. ... read more

Los Angeles Lakers @ Utah Jazz Sunday May 11, 2008 3:30 pm
5* NBA Playoffs REVENGE GOTY on Lakers +3 The Lakers are the superior team here. Utah had to play a nearly perfect game to pull out game 3. The Lakers will make the necessary adjustments and bounce back here. LA is 10-1 ATS versus explosive offensive teams - scoring 103+ points/game ... read more

Boston Celtics @ Cleveland Cavaliers Saturday May 10, 2008 8:00 pm
5* NBA Playoffs Line Mistake of the Year on Celtics +2 Boston does not want to give the Cavs an inch here. After relaxing in game 3 in their first round series with the Hawks, I expect the Celtics to keep their defensive intensity up and put the Cavs in a 3-0 hole. The Celtics ... read more

Los Angeles Angels @ Tampa Bay Rays Saturday May 10, 2008 7:10 pm
3* Angels +115 (listing Saunders and Kazmir) We missed with the Angels last night despite getting the gem we expected from Garland as the Halos gave up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th. I like them to bounce back here against the struggling Kazmir who is being severely overvalued. ... read more
