Weekly Look at CFB Title Chasers

BCS Title Chasers - We are down to five unbeaten teams in NCAAF, and 12 teams with a single loss. The Oregon Ducks are the new #1 team in the latest BCS Standings, swapping spots with Auburn. What is interesting is 3 teams from non-BCS Conferences now rank 3,4, and 5.  HERE IS A LOOK AT THIS WEEK's GAMES:CHATANOOGA @ AUBURN (9-0)If Auburn losses this one their ought to be an investigation. All this game is going to do is weaken their strength of schedule, and has the potential to drop them to #3 or #4 next week regardless by how many they win by.PREDICTION: AUBURN TCU (9-0) @ UTAH (8-0)This is the best matchup of the week. It will reduce the unbeaten teams to 4, and it is basically a pre-BCS Bowl qualifing game. The loser will be out of contention to play in a BCS Bowl, while the winner of this game is going to be right in the mix.PREDICTION:  TCU  HAWAII (7-2) @ BOISE ST. ((7-0)Hawaiil is better than advertised, but their chances on the Smurf-Turf are very small. The biggest problem is Boise St. is for the first time underrated, and for my money the best team in NCAAF this year. Remember this team beat Oklahoma, and TCU twice in recent Bowl matchups, and this is arguably their best team ever.PREDICTION: BOISE ST. WASHINGTON @ OREGON (8-0)Oregon looks scary on offense, would like to see them against a team that can run the ball, and play defense, not sold on the Ducks yet, but this one should be no contest.PREDICTION:  OREGON MINNESOTA (1-8) @ MICHIGAN ST. (8-1)The Spartans were exposed badly vs Iowa, and ruined any hopes they had of playing for a National Title, but still are likely to be 1st, or tied for 1st in the Big-10 when the season concludes. The Spartans have games with Purdue, and @Penn St after this, both winnable games.PREDICTION: MICHIGAN ST. WISCONSIN (7-1) @ PURDUE (4-4)Wisconsin creeped up to the #9 spot, and has a great chance to finish 11-1, but it won't be enough to elevate them into the National Championship talk. After Purdue it is IND, @MICH, and Northwestern, nothing there to get any attention.PREDICTION: WISCONSIN BAYLOR (7-2) @ OKLAHOMA ST. (7-1)This is a dangerous game for Oklahoma St. Baylor has long been the whipping boy in the Big-12, and is playing with redemption and confidence. Cowboys can really climb the polls from #17 as after a tough Baylor game, they face Texas,@Kansas, and Oklahoma. Likely won't get out of the rest of their schedule without another loss.PREDICTION:  BAYLOR NEBRASKA (7-1) @ IOWA ST. (5-4)Nebraska's chances fell when they lost to Texas, and this one should be easy. With just Kansas,A&M, and Colorado left, the Huskers should finish 11-1, and sit tied with Missouri in the Big-12 North who I also think will finish 11-1.PREDICTION:  NEBRASKA NEVADA (7-1) @ IDAHO (4-4)Nevada blew anything they had with their loss at Hawaii. They had a shot at getting Boise St. at home with both teams unbeaten, now that will be their biggest "Bowl" game. Idaho can score some, but they aren't winning this one.PREDICTION:  NEVADA OKLAHOMA (7-1) @ TEXAS A&M (5-3)This could be a dangerous spot for OU. The Aggies have experience and playmakers on offense to score with Oklahoma, as well as the better defense. This one has upset potential. PREDICTION:  TEXAS A&M ARIZONA (7-1) @ STANFORD (7-1)This is a big game for both teams but bigger for Arizona. Arizona still has a shot at Oregon, while the Cardinal was dumped by the Ducks by 3 TD's. Arizona with a win here, and if they somehow beat the Ducks, could win the Pac-10 and find themselves in the Rose Bowl. PREDICTION:   STANFORD, but upset not out of the question ALABAMA (7-1) @ LSU (7-1)Huge game, and a must win for both, but in particular the Tide. At 7-1 and up to #7 in the BCS polls, a win here at LSU would push the Tide up to at least 5th (TCU/UTAH loser is going to drop below them), and with Miss St at home, and Georgia St at home to come before Auburn at home, the Tide will be positioning themselves for a Title defense even with 1 loss. Things getting interesting in Alabama.PREDICTION: LSU MY PRJECTION OF TEAMS RUNNING THE REGULAR SEASON TABLE:BOISE ST.  12-0 TCU  11-0 SINGLE LOSS TEAMS THROUGH THE REGULAR SEASON:UTAH  11-1AUBURN  11-1NEBRASKA  11-1OKLAHOMA 11-1OHIO ST. 11-1MICH ST.  11-1WISCONSIN 11-1MISSOURI  11-1 If this is the case, Boise St. plays who for the National Championship?Unfortunately for the Big-10 teams, none of them play each other, and they don't have a Title game, and it will cost them any chance at all to be represented in the BCS Title game. The logical game would be TCU vs Boise St. for the 3rd time in 4 years, but this one for all the marbles. Would the NCAA allow that to happen? I doubt it. I want that game, because then once and for all, they will see the flaw in their system, and all the money into the BCS Conferences, and Bowl affiliations, will have been made a mockery of. Lots of football left, but this is the scenerio I want, and there are only 2 unbeaten BCS Conference schools left. Most likely Oregon runs the table, and faces Boise St., but if the Ducks trip, and the Tide beat Auburn, a case has to be made for Boise St and TCU, otherwise why play the games, if you go unbeaten and it doesn't matter.Best of Luck, East.
