NHL
It's Thursday, May 23, and tonite in NHL we feature 3 picks for a total of 11 units, including two for 4 units, the strongest one a 4 unit slammer POD (Play of the Day), available for $29 by itself or for $39 with this One Day NHL Pass. And when Nite Owl Sports releases a POD, it’s a wise move to see what the Owl is hooting about, since he has amassed 2,736 POD units with his more than 3,400 PODs released L4Y at Top Ten in all sports, and is a proven winner on the ice, with a 77% hit rate for +317 units on his 225 NHL PODs L4Y. And in contrast to some cappers on this site, who peddle naked picks (w/o supporting WUs), the Owl’s detailed supporting pick WUs make it clear what he likes about his picks. And since all of our picks are monitored by Top Ten, the above can be confirmed with Top Ten customer service and/or by checking our Hot Streaks at the center of the Nite Owl page on this site.
And our POD success in NHL is nothing new, especially in the Stanley Cup playoffs, where we were a SIZZLING 23-4/+52 UNITS with our PODs in TYs NHL playoffs. We know that's also hard to believe, but IT'S TRUE, AND CAN BE VERIFIED with Top Ten customer service or by CHECKING OUR PAST PICKS on this site. And again, over the long haul, our current POD stash is now a whopping +2,736 POD UNITS on our > 3,400 POD Picks since January 2010 in ALL SPORTS, winning 67% of those PODs and putting us waayy on top of the Top Ten POD L/B, with #2 not even in our rear view mirror. Also note that our +2,736 POD units translates into a cool $273,600 for those Nite Owl subscribers just staying at home playing our PODs at $100 per unit, as opposed to those poor suckers working their asses off five days and 40+ hours per week at their jobs (assuming they even have one), not to mention the hassles of commuting, dealing with bosses and other work place issues, etc.).
And we have consistently won > 60% of our picks in Stanley Cup action L3Y, in addition to TY and LY, such as in spring of 2010, when we ended up > +50 units with our Stanley Cup selections and capped off a 10-0/+34 unit closing run on our NHL playoff POD picks with a 10 unit double winner on Chicago and the Over in Chicago's "close out" win over Flyers in game 6 of the finals.
And note that our picks come complete with our typical detailed match-up analysis, frequent strong unofficial team totals plays on one or both of the teams, and even occasional commentary by the Hanson Brothers, and are backed by Top Ten's one of a kind "win or play free" guarantee.
So don't miss this big opportunity for a big nite on the ice, where for just $39 tonite you get 3 strong playoff picks that you can play with confidence -- you won't find better value from a sports capping service anywhere, and when you see our thorough supporting pick write-ups and experience the thrill of winning with our picks, we're sure that you'll be back for more winners from the Owl.

Using 1H Bets for Profit in March Madness
by: Nite Owl Sports
In our recent detailed article which appeared last week in the Top Ten newsletter on ways to beat your bookie in March madness, we mentioned a few techniques we use to squeeze as much value as possible out of the sides that we like. One of those bet splitting techniques is to split our ATS bets on underdogs between a full game bet and a first half bet. How many times have you seen an underdog come out and play a great first half and take a lead to the locker room, only to have that lead (and your full game ATS bet) go up in smoke when (for whatever reason) your team self-destructs and/or their opponent “gets hot” in the 2H? Or how about the scenario where your team is getting points and has had the lead through virtually the entire game and covered the 1H line, but got “caught” late with the game going to overtime, and then ran out of gas in OT and not only lost, but also failed to cover ATS? Yes, we’ve all been there, but note that once your team has covered on a first half bet, nothing that happens in the 2H or in any OTs can take those 1H profits away from you. And while it also happens that dogs sometimes get down early and fail to cover the 1H line, but then come back in the 2H, at least enough to cover the full game point spread (which is why we typically also bet these teams on the full game line), that latter scenario is less frequent than the first half cover/full game ATS loss scenario.
Let’s look at a few examples in last weekend’s NCAA tourney games where that strategy has worked to at least earn a split on two picks, with an ATS cover on the 1H line and an ATS loss on the full game line, which is clearly better than going 0-1 vs the full game line. West Va led Ky by 8 at HT, but was out-scored by 16 in 2H to lose by 8 (both SU and ATS). Similarly but not as extreme, UCLA trailed Florida by just two at the half, but lost by 8, while Illinois hung tough against Kansas for a half, covering the 1H line of +4.5 with a 4 point HT deficit, but losing by 14. That’s just 3 of the 9 ATS victories by second round dogs vs the 1H line in Sat and Sunday’s 12 NCAA games where the spread was 3-10 points, compared to those same 12 dogs going 6-6 vs the full game line in those same 12 games. And if one played those 12 dogs on both the 1H and full game lines, as we typically do, the result would have been a profitable 15-9 ATS. But note that we do not limit our 1H plays to underdogs, having also employed the 1H line to go with small faves, mostly home faves in the “other” post-season tourneys (NIT, CIT and CBI), where the games are in a home/road format, such as our big victory Monday nite with Alabama covering the 1H line of -3 or 3.5 over New Mex, while either barely escaping with a half point cover vs the full game line or being stuck with an ATS push, as that line was bet up to -7 by game time. Another plus for playing teams on the 1H lines in March madness is that those lines are less volatile than the FG lines, since the latter receive by far the most “action” from bettors.
Another bet splitting technique that we use less frequently but have not been afraid to use when the results of our research support doing so, as was the case in two NCAA tourney games on Thursday, is to take one team on the 1H line but their opponent on the full game line, either ATS or on the ML. And in those two games Thursday, we went 3-1 with our four picks, being victorious with both Vandy on the 1H line over Richmond and Richmond ATS on the full game line over Vandy, and splitting with our picks on the UCSB-Florida game, with our full game ATS pick on Florida covering easily but our 1H pick on UCSB falling short, as the Gauchos could never seem to get untracked. But like with splitting our plays on the same team between between 1H and full game ATS picks, our objective and expectation is always to “get the money” with both our 1H and full game ATS plays in such games, whether both plays are on the same team or not.
And our liberal use of the partial game lines is one reason why (i) we have more picks than most cappers on this site and (ii) WE ARE ON FIRE in college hoops lately, on a 33-19/+37 unit run on our L52 picks, and 20-4/+47 units on our L24 PODs in college hoops since March Madness began, part of our current +656 POD units. We already have released nine college hoops picks for the next 3 days, 7 of them in tonite’s action, with 3 of the 7 being Play of the Day picks of 4 or 5 units, and One of them a Game of the Month selection (see BPA), and 3 of today’s 7 picks being first half picks. So with all of that, we believe that our One Day College Hoops pass for $49 is a steal, but with today’s long NBA card, a One Day CBB/NBA Combo pack for just $10 more at $59 is an even better deal. But we believe your best bet is either our 7 day college hoops package for $99 or our 7 day CBB/NBA Combo pack for $149, either of which takes you through this WE’s Elite Eight. This article copyrighted for exclusive use of Nite Owl Sports and Top Ten Cappers.
