Three Games You Must Bet This Weekend

Three Games You Must Bet This Weekend

I love football season.  Between the NCAA and the NFL there is always a wide array of interesting games on the TV, and few sports offer so much in the way of betting.  While it’s always hard to whittle down the list, here are three games that are going to get a lot of betting action this weekend.

San Diego Chargers vs. Chicago Bears.  This matchup features one of the elite teams of the NFC against one of the elite teams of the entire NFL.  There is nothing like opening day with some powerhouses.

Why the Chargers might win: LT, LT and LT.  Seriously though, LT is unstoppable and TE Antonio Gates is one of the few TEs who can challenge MLB Brian Urlacher in coverage.  The game is in San Diego, and that defense is going to give Cedric Benson and Rex Grossman fits.

Why the Bears might win: new coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator and the Chargers play the same type of game the Bears are used to playing.  Rivers will have a challenge with that defense, and special teams might provide an edge.

LSU vs. Virginia Tech.  The marquee NCAA matchup this weekend, No. 2 LSU faces off against visiting No. 9 Virginia Tech.  Virginia Tech won a close game over ECU, their first after the on-campus tragedy.  LSU is shooting for a national title.

Why LSU is going to win: They are arguably the best team in the best conference.  A balanced, pro attack with several future NFL players will work with a defense that is always among the most dominant in the country and here’s a statement game to go after USC in the rankings.  Virginia Tech looks vulnerable after barely edging ECU.

Why Virginia Tech is going to win: After an emotional opening weekend the team will have time to focus in a less frenzied environment.  With a stellar defense they will take advantage of LSU’s new quarterback, and prove they are a much better team than week one indicated.  Away from the pressure, this can become their tribute game.

TCU vs. Texas.  While most other ranked teams mail it in on week two, these two ranked teams look at kindling an in-state rivalry.  This could be a much better game than people think.

Why Texas will win: They’re Texas and have a team competing for the national title.  QB Colt McCoy is one of the best in the country, and after a few initial bumps, they’re going to look to take out their frustrations on TCU.

Why TCU will pull the upset: Texas looks sloppy on offense and defense.  TCU has a strong, opportunistic defense, and the Texas running game seems to be built on finesse over power.  TCU’s hard-noseed defense won’t allow that, and all they have to do is keep it close into the fourth to gain big recruiting ground in the Lone Star State.
