Rocketman Sports CBB TOP 25 Rankings 1-3-11

Back with our TOP 25 CBB Rankings for Monday 1-3-11.  We’ll compare my rankings with the actual Polls and give you some advanced plays for the week.  I am documented as the #1 College Basketball Handicapper the past 3 years combined hitting 61% at The Sports Monitor of Oklahoma City, OK!  The 2nd half of the season has been the best for us so make sure you are on board for the ride!

ACC is having a down year this year overall as I have only two teams in the Top 25 but one of them is my #1 ranked team in the country in Duke.  The SEC is also a down conference this year as I have only two teams in the Top 25 but one of those, Kentucky, is ranked #3 currently in my book.  So two normally strong conferences may not put many in the postseason but they have two strong contenders that will make some noise.  I have seven Big East teams in my Top 25 rankings.  This appears to be the strongest overall conference in my book.  Look for quite a few teams from this conference to make some noise in postseason play.  A lot of them are very evenly matched too so that makes for some good conference games if you like watching basketball.  The Big 10 has 3 teams in my Top 25 including my #2 ranked team, Ohio State.  Ohio State could easily give Duke a run for their money this year!  Keep an eye out for that team.  The Big 12 has 3 teams in my Top 25 currently.  Kansas is the strongest in this conference once again this year.  The Pac 10 only has 1 team in my Top 25 and the Mountain West has 3 teams in my Top 25 currently. 

Let’s compare my Rocketman poll to the AP Top 25.  I don’t have Villanova ranked and the AP has them ranked 8th.  What this means, look to play on Villanova this week.  AP has Minnesota ranked 14th and I don’t have them ranked in my TOP 25.  We’ll look to play on Minnesota this week.  AP has Kansas State ranked 17th and I don’t have them ranked in my Top 25.  Look to play on Kansas State this week.  Texas A&M barely missed my Top 25 and AP has them ranked at #18.  Look for Texas A&M to play well this week.  Central Florida is ranked 19th in the AP poll and not ranked at all in mine.  Look to play on Central Florida this week.  Michigan State is ranked 20th in the AP poll and not ranked in mine.  Look to play on Michigan State starting tonight against Northwestern!  AP poll has Memphis ranked #14 and I don’t have them ranked at all in the Rocketman poll.  Look for Memphis to play well this week.  Illinois is ranked 23rd in the AP poll and didn’t make the Rocketman poll.  Look to play on Illinois this week. 

Washington is not ranked in the AP Poll and I have them way up in 4th.  Look to play against Washington this week.  I have Butler up in 7th and the AP poll decided to leave them out.  Look to play against Butler and that starts tonight when they travel to Wisconsin Milwaukee.  I have Cincinnati ranked 9th and the AP Poll doesn’t have them in their Top 25.  Play against Cincinnati in their next game.  I have St. Mary’s ranked #13 currently and the AP poll don’t have them ranked.  Play against St. Mary’s in their next game.  I have North Carolina ranked 19th,  Wisconsin ranked 20th , UNLV ranked 21st and Gonzaga ranked 23rd and the AP poll doesn’t have them ranked.  Look to play against North Carolina, Wisconsin, UNLV and Gonzaga their next games.
