I have Kansas ranked 9th in my power rankings and Virginia Tech ranked #1. Yes, Va Tech as #1 in the power rankings. Why? Well, consider that after Va Tech's beating against LSU, this team made a change at quarterback and that is the best thing they could have done. Va Tech has covered their last 5 ballgames, including getting redemption against Boston College on the road to capture the ACC crown. Now, they face a Big 12 team that is sound in Kansas with just 1 loss, however, outside the Oklahoma State game, when this team plays the better teams in the nation, they struggle - in particularly on the road in scoring points. For example, this team scored just 19 points against Colorado, scored just 19 points against Texas A&M - both top 50 ballclubs. This team did score 40+ on the road at Oklahoma State, but Oklahoma State plays the over with nearly every team out there. Virginia Tech went on the road to win against Virginia and BC and hat is a very tough feat to do - against 2 top 25 power ranking teams - to go on the road and win by double-digits. This team beat Georgia Tech by 24 points on the road as well. Kansas is ranked 6th in the nation in total offense, 15th in passing, 28th in rushing, 12th in defense overall but outside the top 60 in pass coverage, 6th in rushing yards allowed and 4th in points allowed. Va Tech is outside the top 100 in total offense, but 5th in the nation in total yards allowed, 30th in the nation in passing yards allowed - but held Boston College and Matt Ryan to basically 2 touchdowns on the road, 5th in the nation in rushing and 2nd in the nation in points allowed overall.
