March Madness: Good, Bad and the Ugly

The NCAA Tournament is right around the corner. I thought i'd take a look at who has the bet winning percentage of all time in NCAA Tournament games. these are the top 5 (minimum 50 games played), and 6 are listed as there is a tie for 5th:

1. DUKE .758

2. UCLA .733

3. N. CAROLINA .721

4. MICH ST. .693

5.KENTUCKY .691

5. KANSAS .691

I guess there is no surprise here, unless you thought maybe UCLA would be first. While these teams have been NCAA Masters, let's take a look at how they have fared in the last 13 years ATS in the NCAA Tournament.

MICH ST. 30-16-1

NC 24-13-1

KAN 25-15

KY 19-18

UCLA 15-16

DUKE 21-26-1

ALL: 134-103-1 56.5%

So looking at the last 13 years, it isn't a bad idea playing on the top 6 teams in NCAAB Tournament wins as they hold a 56.5% ATS mark, certainly profitable. Even Duke at te bottom rung went 5-1 ATS last year. The last 3 years these top tourney teams have gone 38-21 ATS for 64.4% winners.

The worst team records for teams that have played 40 tournament games or more?
