MREAST'S WEEKLY LOOK AT TITLE CHASERS

There was only one casualty this week from the ranks of the unbeaten, as BYU went down hard to the tenacious defense of TCU. As we head to week 9, there are now 9 undefeated teams left. The BIG-12 continues to be most impressive as of the 5 BCS Conference schools with undefeated teams, 3 reside in the BIG-12. The Cinderella teams remain in force, with 4 unbeaten teams. Let's take a look at the week ahead.
BOISE ST. (6-0) @ SAN JOSE ST.
This will be a challenge for the Broncos offense, which has yet to score 40 points this season. San Jose has the potential to make this a game, but in the end, I would suspect the Broncos will be in this column next week, but the upset is not out of the question here.
ALABAMA (7-0) @ TENNESSEE
The Tide almost let a 24-3 halftime lead vanish, getting zipped in the 2nd half at home 17-0. Tennessee finally played a good game, and always present a tough challenge at home. This could be the Vol's Bowl game, but the Tide may have learned from last week's 2nd half letdown, not to let this one slip away.
TEXAS TECH (7-0) @ KANSAS
The Jayhawks gave Oklahoma more of a game than anyone expected on the road, and should be up for the challenge against the unbeaten Red Raiders. This one has a chance to be an upset, although Tech is the better team, may not be as easy as it looks.
OKLAHOMA ST. (7-0) @ TEXAS (7-0)
The Longhorns will now meet their 3rd undefeated team in a row, and if Texas Tech survives vs Kansas, next week they will face their fourth undefeated team in a row. That has never happened in the history of the NCAA to my knowledge at this stage of the season. The Longhorns have looked unbeatable, shutting down a high potentcy Missouri offense. Can they get it up a 3rd straight time? Colt McCoy looks like a Sunday QB, and Heisman Trophy runaway if he keeps this up vs top competition. Oklahoma St. certainly has the ability here, especially if the Horns are physically, and emotionally drained after 2 consecutive huge games. Think the Horns survive here.
PENN ST. (8-0) @ OHIO ST.
The Nitany's appeared to be among the missing from this column,as they withstood a first half charge from the Wolverines and trailed at home 17-7 at the half, but the second half was all Penn St. The Buckeyes have a chance to put themselves back in the talk with a win in Columbus, and the upset could be on. This one could go either way.
CENTRAL FLORIDA @ TULSA (7-0)
Well the Hurricanes can score wiith anyone, and don't defend very well, but at home, they will likely out-score UCF here and be here again next week, when they will face Arkansas, uh oh!
E. MICHIGAN @ BALL ST. (7-0)
If EMU beats the Cards on the road, there ought to be an investigation!
