Colorado Rockies @ Pittsburgh Pirates
Rusch (4-3, 5.74 ERA) is 3-1 since he was traded to Colorado (from the Cubs) and he has won his three last starts for the Rockies, with some nice performances: 3.24 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. His record against the Pirates isn't great (3-7, 4.85 ERA), however this season he has defeated Pittsburgh in the only time he has faced them.
On the other side, Herrera (1-1, 9.75 ERA) will just make his 4th start and he has been capable of the best and the worst until now. In his first two starts, he was terrible against the Cardinals and against this very same team of the Rockies, where he allowed 13 runs and 19 hits in just 6 innings. But on his most recent start at home against the Padres, winning the game without allowing any run, however it was against the Padres, so this performance still needs to be comfirmed by some other decent starts in order to confirm his recent good form.
Philadelphia Phillies @ Washington Nationals
The team of Philadelphia is currently in a good moment, after all they have managed to comeback from very tough situations in their last two games (trailing by 5 and 6 runs) against Atlanta and today they'll start a series against Washington. The Nationals are 0-6 in their last 6 games, as they were swept by San Francisco and the LA Dodgers and in their last two games they couldn't even score a single run. Actually on his last games, they offensive production has been terrible (4-5-2-5 hits). Today they will send to pitch the right hander Ballester (1-2, 5.75 ERA), who has been suffering from the bad moment of the team. Since he was recruted, he has just played once at home, in a 4-6 defeat against the Astros.
On the other side, the Philles will send Myers, who is having an horrible season. He is 3-9 and 5.82 ERA, but on the road things get even uglier with 0-6 and 7.91 ERA! He has never won on the road! After a bad phase, Myers was send to the minors and in his comeback game, he lost again this time against the Mets. Even though Washington is the worst team in the league, Myers has faced them twice this season and he lost both games (6-11 and 0-4), which is something ridiculous. This team of Washington is bad, but today they may have a nice shot to win. After two disasterous season, the team is now at home, had a day to rest and they will face a pitcher, who has been dominated by the Nationals this season.
New York Mets @ Florida Marlins
The Mets will send to the pitch Olivier Perez (6-6, 4.15 ERA), who has been great this month, but unfortunately for him sometimes he doesn't have the run support he deserves, as Perez has just allowed 0-1-3-1 runs on his four starts this month. On his last three games he had an ERA of 1.83 and curiously his record is 0-1.
On the other side, Florida will send Scott Olsen (6-5, 4.07 ERA), who is solid at home and his numbers show that: 4-3, 3.12 ERA. However he has been inconsistent lately, alternating some good games with some disasterous ones. I remember that the game between the Marlins and Colorado, which ended 17-18, he was the starting pitcher. Olsen has won his last two home starts against Arizona and Philadelphia, but he comes from a defeat against the Cubs. Also I remember that he is on a sequence of six games in a row allowing at least one home run.
St Louis Cardinals @ Atlanta Braves
Atlanta will send to the pitch Tim Hudson (11-7, 3.17 ERA), who has been amazing at home with a record of 8-1 and 2.57 ERA. Hudson is 3-1 this month and in his last start in Florida didn't allow any run in the 6 innings he pitched. After a bad phase in June, Hudson is now back in form.
On the other side, the Cardinals will send Wellemeyer (8-4, 4.19 ERA), who is in a slump recently. The truth is that the Cardinals are 1-6 on their last 7 games in which Wellemeyer has started, so that's not a good sign for today. He has gone 1-0 and 5.61 ERA on his last three starts, but his only win was against the Padres.
Cincinnati Reds @ Houston Astros
Houston managed to beat the Reds yesterday by 5-4, giving a good seguement to the win they had managed to get in Milwaukee last Sunday. Today they will send to the pitch Moehler (5-4, 4.45 ERA), who comes from an horrible game. Moehler on his last start against the Pirates was terrible, allowing 6 runs in less than 3 innings. Today a bounce back by him is expected, as he is 4-1 after a loss this season!
On the other side, the Reds aren't in a good phase, as they are coming from four losses in a row, as after being swept by Colorado, they lost again yesterday. Today they will send to the pitch Arroyo (9-7, 5.60 ERA), who has been pretty well recently. Arroyo is a 5 game winning streak and some of them in great style against the Mets and the Cubs. However this season Arroyo has already played against the Astros, where he had a bad performance and a loss by 3-9. Curiously Moehle is also struggling against the Reds, as he is 0-4 against them.
San Francisco Giants @ Los Angeles Dodgers
In thoery this would be a good spot for the Dodgers today, as normally after a road win by a dog,in the next game the favorite bounces back, as there is a big feeling of revenge. However we need to be careful in here. The Giants defeated yesterday the Dodgers by 7-6 and today they will send Matt Cain (6-8, 3.82 ERA). However Cain has been very well lately, as on his last 3 starts, Cash is 1-1 with 1.23 ERA and in this sequence, he hasn't allowed any run in the last two games.
On the other side, the Dodgers are sending Jason Johnson will make his start as a SP for the Dodgers. He has just done two games as a reliever and he has allowed 2 runs in 7 innings. Even though the Dodgers are the favorits in here, the spot isn't that famous for them
Detroit Tigers @ Clevrland Indians
The team of Detroit has once again ended a game without scoring a single run, losing by 0-5 against the Indians. They are the team of the league with most shootouts and today a bounce back is expected for today. For that Detroit will send the rookie Galarraga (8-4, 3.27 ERA), who has been well, with his numbers being even better on the road with 6-2 and 2.39 ERA. On his last start, Galarraga managed to finally win in July against Kansas City.
On the other side, Cleveland will send Matt Ginter (1-1, 2.45 ERA), who will make the third game for the Indians this season. Ginter in the last two games he has done until now did well against power teams like the Rays and the Angels. In this last case, even though he lost, the right hander gave a chance to the Indians to fight for the win, ending up losing by 1-2. Detroit is now back in a slump. The pitchers for today look to be solid and both teams can easily end up being the winners tonight.
Baltimore Orioles @ New York Yankees
In a surprising way, the Yankees can't have a good sequence against the Orioles this season, as they are 4-6 against them, while the team has been so easily defeating Boston and Tampa Bay. Yesterday they lost against Baltimore by 4-13 and today they expect a bounce back. The team will send Darrell Rasner (5-7, 4.83 ERA), who has been better at home with 3-2 and 3.44 ERA and even though in his last 3 starts he hasn't been better than just a 1-1, the truth is that these games were against Minnesota, in Toronto and Boston, which makes us understand how tough was the work for him in those games. Against Baltimore, the SP of the Yankees was amazing this season, as even though he is just 1-1, he has just allowed 1 run in 13 innings.
Baltimore will send Daniel Cabrera (6-6, 4.86 ERA) to the pitch, who is coming from two bad performances. In the last three games he has been in a bad record of 0-2 and 8.79 ERA, with losses against Toronto and Detroit. Curiously on his last game against the Yankees, he won at NY by 12-2. Today the spot for the Yankees is good. They expect to bounce back today against a pitcher who struggled on his last starts, however the price at -160 against the Orioles doesn't have any value.
Seattle Mariners @ Texas Rangers
Seattle defeated yesterday Texas by 7-5 and gave a good seguement to their win in the last game of the series against Toronto. Today they will send to the pitch Carlos Silva (4-12, 5.62 ERA), who hasn't been capable of doing sequences of good games. Silva is 4.24 ERA and 0-2 on his last 3 starts. On his last start, Silva only pitched for 3 innings against Cleveland and allowed 4 runs. It will be hard for Silva today to face the powerful team of the Rangers.
Texas will send Luis Mendoza (2-4, 7.16 ERA). The numbers don't lie and Mendoz in the last games has been terrible, with 11.92 ERA and 1-2 on his last 3 starts. It's also important to say that it was against the White Sox twice and the LA Angels, but it was enough to understand how we can't trust on him, especially with Texas being at -135 in this game, which both games will have chances to win. Texas is looking for a bounce back, but with the two SP for this game, anything can happen in here.
