Kendall Holiday Wagering News and Notes - 2/10/08
by: Kendall Holiday
Alright folks, we are in the thick of it now, and teams are starting to show their weary faces. As I am typing this, UCLA is struggling against a relatively poor Washington team on the road. North Carolina is loing at home to Clemson. Be prepared for a lot more of this in the coming weeks, as the top teams will take some breathers as we head down the strecth. Basketball is a demanding sport and the season is long. Witness Michigan State having a poor effort against Northwestern at home yesterday. Kansas playing a close game with Baylor, Duke a close game with BC, Tennessee with LSU, and Texas with Iowa State. We'll see more of this through the next four weeks. Big favorite players should be weary as the teams on the brink will be throwing everything they have at the Big Dogs for that big win that could make the difference in their resume.
Big 12 Update
The Big 12 is top heavy, as we have been saying all season long. Kansas is by far the best team in the this league, and then there is a cluster of teams, which include, A&M, Texas, Kansas State, and Baylor. Look for Texas Tech to struggle to the finish line as Knight is gone, and the jury is waaaay out on his son. Colorado is playing much better basketball and has been a covering machine of late getting the cover in their last three games. It will be interesting to see what the line when they play at Kansas next Saturday, which has the makings of a big favorite not covering once again.
Baylor proved a lot to us on Saturday night as they went head to head with Kansas on their home court and played them pretty evenly. Kansas scored fifty points in eight minutes, but you have to think that Baylor will have a good showing in the Big 12 tournament. They are a talented team, and well balanced on offense. Keep an eye on them late in the season when they might bring good value. Even though they lost the game, it will build confidence in them as we head down the stretch.
A&M has quietly found themselves and their inside game and have been dominant in their recent league play. This is certainly another team to watch as we head down the stretch here.
If you're looking for quality underdogs, look no further than Lincoln and Boulder. Nebraska played a very difficult early schedule but has played well recently and we expect that trend to continue. They have already played Kansas twice and Baylor, losing all three. They'll make some up in the win column down the stretch.
We already mentioned them earlier, but Colorado has been playing good team basketball, a novel concept, in Boulder, and are a good underdog to keep your eye on down the road. They have two very winnable games at home when they host Texas Tech and Iowa State coming up. If those lines are near a pick as we expect, Colorado could make some serious cash at the window.
The Mountain West has been a dissapointment this season, and we see two teams making the NCAA, and it will come down the the tournament. UNLV looks like a lock and is clearly the conference's best team while San Diego State and BYU will need good showings down the stretch to ink their bid. Utah is a team to keep an eye on in the conference tournament, and Air Force is capable of pulling a tourney upset as well.
Finally, no one has been hotter in College Hoops than Kendall Holiday. We are off an astounding 75% (9-3) week, which netted our players a whopping 15 units in one week of college hoops action. Historically, we have owned College Hoops down the stretch, so this could be a year where we truly seperate ourselves from the competition. We are in position to beat the 60% mark for the entire season, which is a rarity in this profession. Hope aboard the money train!

Colorado Rockies @ Los Angeles Dodgers Monday June 2, 2008 10:10 pm
You simply cannot side with the Colorado Rockies right now, especially on the road. This is a lineup decimated by injury, and their starter Reynolds, walked eight in his last outing. A nice spot for a bounce back here in Chavez Ravine but the Rockies have been losing ... read more
