IC's Thursday WNBA and MLB Research
by: IndianCowboy
Let's continue to roll, 15-4 Last 19 POD (Doing 1 pod per day) after yesterday's POD winner in the Wnba. Now 55-27 (66%) over Nearly 3 Months. As I've always said, Daily Research and early preparation to hitting the lines is the key to success. Here is Thursday's Research, you will get this Research Each and Every day as I write Daily Research in detail prior to using the research in order to make my selections for the day. Hope you find it useful: Below is the MLB Thursday Research and WNBA Friday Research in Advance.
Lynx vs. Shock
This is a big revenge game for Detroit who got drilled by Minny earlier this year at home by 14, Minny has lost 3 of their last 4, that road loss was one of Detroit's just 3 losses, Minny has lost their last 2 road ballgames by a combined total of 2 points, 1 point in each game, I would never want to tick off the Shock at home where they are 4-0, I would not be surprised to see a Shock cover here despite Minny being a good team.
Sparks vs. San Antonio
Curious why you only get the Sparks here as a 1 point favorite? There is good reason my friend as San Antonio is 5-0 at home, and the public is buying into San Antonio as 55% the public favors them, but the Sparks are no joke, they are 5-1 on the road themselves, I am likely staying away as there are better games than this one to choose from as it's a tough call either way, but I lean on L.A., but once again, I'm staying away from this bombshell and will take my chances elsewhere.
Connecticut vs. Sacramento
Connecticut gets drilled at Phoenix and that is significant for this game as keep in mind as mentioned yesterday, Phoenix is a team that can win on any given day and Phoenix is a team that can lose on any given day, they can win against anyone as well as look like fools against anyone as well (especially on the raod). I would love to lean on Conn but Conn beat this team by 23 earlier this year and Sacramento is playing much better with their new coach and they are likely going to get up big time for this game. Sac comes off a home loss to L.A. and although I lean on the over, the total has reached around 150, so I'm likely to stay away completely from this game given that Conn is on a bounce-back and Sacramento has a great deal of revenge in this game.
Indiana vs. Seattle
I understand that Seattle is 7-6, but keep in mind that Seattle is 6-1 as well. I was reading an article yesterday that was talking a great deal about Seattle's under trend of late, and it was true: Seattle is 8-1-1 to the under as Sue Bird (who can play ball with me anyday by the way) has slowed down the pace of the game given the crop of players that this team has this year. Seattle is still trying to mesh with Swoops (coming over from Houston), Cash (coming over from Detroit), Bird (who has remained there), Jackson the stronghold of this team (who can also play ball with me as she is a gorgeous Australian) and they've added Wright on the wing. Seattle has lost their last 3, including to Conn at home, Indiana comes off a nice home win over New York, Seattle did beat Detroit at home so don't sell this team short, I think Seattle is at a good price here given that they have dropped 3 in a row in the competitive west.
Atlanta vs. Washington
Surprised to see Washington as a 11 point favorite? Don't be, they come off back to back wins including a road win outright at Houston and Atlanta continues to struggle to cover ballgames as they get drilled by San Antonio at home.

MLB Research Thursday (18-11, 62%, Last 30 Days)
How about that write-up on the Rockies vs. Indians, as I mentinoed, that game indeed went under with both pitchers showing up in particular Francis who showed up against Cleveland at home - now on to today's write-up:
Atlanta vs. Texas
My Braves actually won a road game, stop the presses! They sit at.500 on the season, Morton starts for Atlanta, he gave up 3 runs in 6 inns against the Angels, not bad for his first start as Texas sends Scott Feldman who has been dynamite at home in his last 4 starts, in fact, the more I look at the better Texas seems to me, after all, Feldman comes off getting spanked by the Mets on the road, but has great numbers at home including giving up 11 earned runs in his last 6 starts at home (less than 2 runs per game at home during his starts) while the Braves send an essentially newbie up there for his 2nd time around. I like the Rangers off from a loss yesterday and Feldman on the bounce-back today.
Oakland vs. Arizona
Arizona simply spanked Oakland yesterday, Oakland looks to come back with Greg Smith who pitched well against San Fran on the road, but has been shaky on the road, I would hate to go against the A's given that Smith is on the mound and on a bounce-back after getting spanked, but of course, who wants to go against the Dbacks who can defeat any one - thus, I feel that Oakland has the edge in pitching, but the Dbacks continue to do well at home, staying away from this rat race - keep in mind that Davis pitched stellar in his last game but has trouble putting back to back quality starts, no thanks on this game.
Houston vs. Baltimore
After 2 non-quality starts, Chacon pitched well against his once foe the Yankees in his last contest, game went under not surprisingly, Houston lost a tough game to Baltimore last night due to Millar in extra innings, Burres has been roughed up in 3 out of his last 4 starts and has been getting drilled at home as he picked up a win against Pittsburgh despite giving up 6 runs, frankly, I think Houston can win this game as a quality dog today but I despise betting on the Astros - they are similar to the Cavs in the nba, unpredictable as you can get.
Cubs vs. Devil Rays
Gallagher has pitched in 5 straight unders and faces Shields and the Drays today, the Drays are a far improved team at 42-29 as we are roughly in the half-way point and this team is still playing great baseball to their credit, Sheilds has given up 10 runs in his last 2 starts and I expect him to have a solid bounce-back today to avoid 3 straight non-quality starts, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Drays RL cash today.
Cleveland vs. Colorado
Francis shows up for the big ones and that was the status yesterday as he pitched a gem against Cleveland, today, Cleveland is the dog as they send Sowers to the mound who if I am not mistaken has not pitched a quality start in ages and the Rockies are at a decent price today considering that - Sowers for example has given up 12 runs in his last 12 innings, De La Rossa was the kid that came over from the Royals that the Rockies are taking a shot on to improve their rotation and pitched great in his last start against the White Sox for his new ballclub, I would expect the same in his home debut today - don't be surprised to see the Rockies cash today as well from the new found starter from reliever role in De La Rossa with his new team. There is only 1 reason why I would stay away from the Rockies and that would be because the Indians teed up DLR for 3 runs in 0.2 innings when he was with KC in his last outing, but of course, that was in a relief appearance and not a start with his new ballclub at home for the first time.

Euro 2008
No one ever said that money can't be made via soccer. I had a chacne to watch Russia vs. Sweeden and it was a great game. Heck, Russia went into that game as a dog as all Sweeden needed to do was to either tie or defeat Spain whom they lost too and that forced their match with Russia - in which they had to either win or tie to advance to the quarterfinals only to see the younger more athletic Russian team - an average of 3 years per position defeat Sweeden 2-0. It was awesome. Nothing agianst Sweeden but Russia has come a long way in 5 years as their Soccer as improved dramatically - not a coincidence considering the Russian economy has also improved dramatically and more resources were put into Russian Soccer. Heck, look, in "Gus we Trust" was the new slogan for the Russian coach that is not even Russian but rather has taken 3 european teams to the finals as he has put together a young group who played spectacular soccer and frankly shocked Sweeden. Russia got blown away by Spain 4-1 so this was a revenge bounce-back for them and they did very well. Congrats to Russia and their young squad for advancing for the first time in many years to Euro 2008 to the quarterfinals. Congrats Coach Gus, you completely broke apart that previous Russian team, put together some talented young players, made them beleive and they did just that. Russia also paid a nice dog price for winning outright as well.
There are no games scheduled for June 20th, looking forward to the Euro Quarterfinals, in particular Portugal vs. Spain.
