IC's Full Saturday Research!

by: IndianCowboy

Saturday, April 5th

NCAA Basketball Research

Memphis vs. UCLA

I can't wait for both of these games to go off. Here you have a Memphis team that has flat out dominated the competiton thus far and now runs into UCLA. All these games of course in San Antonio, so it's not as if one school has a huge home court advantage over the other in this game. What's a bit of a surprise here is that the line has significantly gone in favor of Memphis since the opening despite a 50/50 public favor. I see this game going either way, but although I like UCLA's defense, I think Memphis gets it done here as Rose is the difference.

Kansas vs. UNC

How great is this game? Here you have Roy Williams facing his old nemesis and believe me that college basketball that Williams faces Self in this great story line which is the very reason why they put both of these teams on the same side of the bracket. I would love to take UNC here, but keep in mind that 70% of the public favors UNC, which itself keeps me away from UNC and tempts me to take Kansas here. Bill Self desperately wants to get to the championship game, but Ty Lawson is so good at handling the ball. I am tempted to take the under here given that the total is so high. If I play anything in College ball it will likely be this under and/or Memphis.

NBA Research for Saturday

Orlando vs. Cleveland

Revenge game for Cleveland who lost by 14 in the last game, the Cavs come off a home loss to the Bulls so this is a bounce-back game, the Magic however come off a loss to the Hornets at home. Frankly, I like the Magic on the bounce-back here although no line is out.

Atlanta vs. Philly

I wish the Hawks would have won at home so I could have taken the Sixers here, but no luck, no thanks, the Hawks do have revenge and there is some value in taking them ML here, but the Sixers are solid at home, tough call either way.

Boston vs. Charlotte

Charlotte wins a big game on the road and they consistently have played well against the Celtics this year losing by 8 and 12 covering 18 and a 13.5 spread. The Celtics have covered their last 5 and 8 of 10, I am interested in this line to take the Bobcats, anything 9 or better I think is worth a shot here on the B's.

Toronto vs. New Jersey

New Jersey comes off getting pounded at Detroit, creates some value in this game, but that value is sucked out by the fact the Raps come off a home loss to the Bobcats, Toronto has lost back to back games, and the Nets have lost their last 4 which is not good news for a team looking to get into the last playoff spot, likely a no play, but on a short line, the Raps are def woth a shot after losing back to back games.

Washington vs. Chicago

Washington beat this team by 6 on the road in their last game, has lost their last 3 covers but Agent Zero played very well in their last ballgame, Chicago comes off a big win at Cleveland, this game can go either way as I can see the Wiz winning on the road, the Bulls can be fickle at times, but do have revenge and are at home.

Sacramento vs. Denver

This is a game that is very dangerous for Denver imo. If you remember, Denver won by a buzzer beater by L. Kleiza the last time these 2 teams played, the Kings did not take too well with that loss as that was a debilitating loss. I know the Nuggs have been great at home, but the Kings have huge revenge here, they are likely to show up big at home today, the Kings have covered 3 in a row at home and this is a game they can cover and who knows, have a shot at an outright win near the end of the ballgame.

MLB Research for Saturday

Drays vs. Yankees

I would love to take the 2:1 dogged Drays, but taking them was available yesterday with Sonn, not necessarily with Jackson who is shaky and the Yankees roughed him up for 6 runs last year in his last start, and the Yanks come off a beat down and Pettitte goes for the Yankees, no thanks.

Astros vs. Cubs

Houston won as a +174 dog in the last ballgame, but getting Roy Oswalt on this price is wonderful and this Astros team was thought to produce more offense now than what they are doing, but with Tejada, Lee and Berkman this team is doing well. Tempting to take Oswalt and the Stros' despite the Cubs being on the bounce-back today as Marquis is very shaky at best.

Boston vs. Toronto

Litsch is 1-1 in quality starts against the B's in his last 2 ballgames, Buccholtz has pitched very well in his last 3 starts to finish last year, this ballgame can go either way with 2 young pitcher and 2 dynamic offenses.

San Fran vs. Milwaukee

The Brew Crew are great right now at 3-1 but 70%+ of the public is on them which is always scary and Correia is not a bad pitcher at all to be this much of a dog - heck, he is at +170 right now which is great. Parra has talent, but heck, this team has given up 10 hits in 8 innings and this is a ballgame that the Giants are getting great value in - besides, this team comes off a 4-13 pounding, I like them bouncing-back with this value tomorrow.

White Sox vs. Tigers

Floyd gave up 6 hits and 1 run against the Tigers in his last contest, this is a guy that can show up against the Tigers, who are desperate for a win and 0-4, Willis did not have a good spring at all, lean on the White Sox in a slugfest, but I'll probably stay away.

Washington vs. Cards

Chico won as a big dog last time out at Philly, the Cards are playing solid right now at 3-1 and Wainwright makes his first start of the season, I believe Washington is one of the 5 best dogs in MLB of the day.

Cleveland vs. Oakland

I like Sabathia here, pitched great in his first game, but I play dogs, and putting this much money on a road chalk - no thanks and the new kid for Oakland struggled in parts of last year in releif appearances, no thanks.

Mets vs. Atlanta

Glavine faces his old ballclub here, Braves are desperate for a win, Glavine can easily get shelled by his old ballclub or show up, the Braves can hit Pelfrey very well as well, little value here imo. I just don't trust Glavine

Seattle vs. Baltimore

Baltimore won as a +122 dog last time out and getting 5 straight quality starts from Batista, he is of great value here at +102 currently. I like Seattle here but Batista on the road could be a question, lean on Seattle if anything here.

Dodgers vs. Padres

I like Penny as the dog here, great value, but the fact that Peavy has consistently pitched well against this team is tough to go against, Penny has yet to give up a run this year, a lean on the Dodgers here.

Rangers vs. Angels

Weaver is on a bounce-back start and Millwood was great against Seattle, yet to give up a run, this is very good value with the Rangers however with their lineup against Millwood who might be pitching better than Weaver right now, despite being on a bounce-back.

Pittsburgh vs. Marlins

This game is likely to go over, I can see this game going eiher way, both pitchers are terrible, don't want any money on this game.

KC vs. Minny

Hernandez was great in his last start, but I don't think he has 2 good starts in him back to back, I like Meche and the Royals a team that should have won last night to bounce-back here and win with their ace. I love the Royals this season.

Philly vs. Cincy

I don't do the RL very often, but this is a game for that with Harang, but I don't do RL given that it is a loser in the long run, no thanks. However, Harang has a huge advantage over Eaton in this game, both offenses are comparable.

Arizona vs. Rockies

I like Webb here, but I would hate to go against Francis at home as the Dbacks have revenge from last year's playoff game, no thanks, simply staying away here.

Yesterday's NBA Recap

As mentioned yesterday, Charlotte ends up bouncing back and wins a big game at Toronto. Heck, I should have been on them as the 9 points were significant for this team as they are now 4-0-1 ATS in the west coast road trip of late including beating the Lakers outright on the road. Philly not surprisingly gets revenge on the young Hawks at home, Washington wins, but fails to cover at home yet again - agent Zero played well but not have failed to cover against Milwaukee and Washington, New Jersey had some injuries and Detroit pounds them at home, San Antonio puts up just 9 points against the Jazz and gets drilled on the road, GS bounces back by pounding the Grizz on the road as they had lost back to back agmes, I think the Grizz will be worth a shot in their next game similar to what happened when they got pounded by the Hawks but came back to beat the Knicks, as mentioned the Knicks covered against the Hornets as this team was fired up from the Memphis loss, they did lose SU against the Hornets, but played with a lot of heart and they continue to be great double-digit dog covers, Heck they were tied until the 4th quarter, Indiana wins and covers barely at Milwaukee, Phoenix as expected pounds the Twolves with revenge at home, Lakers win but fail to cover against Dallas, Seattle scores just 25 points in the 2nd half after being tied at half time against the Rockets - pitiful.
