2011 Oklahoma Football Predictions

Down in Norman, Oklahoma, the preseason 2011 Oklahoma football predictions are running high, wild and unchecked. The team is loaded at just about every position, and they are viewed unanimously as a team in the top 3 or 5 in the nation. Head coach Bob Stoops wants this to be a year that his team finally breaks through and wins it all once again, after lots of success, but only one national title. Should you view them as national title threats with your college football picks?

Stoops has led the Sooners to an extremely successful decade. They have been one of the most successful teams in college football, and it seems like they are a lock for a 10-win season each and every year. They went 12-2 last season and they trounced their overmatched competitors to win a BCS bowl game last year. But that's not enough to please some football fans, and in truth, it's not enough to appease Stoops either. That one national title came a decade ago, and he believes they are well due for another one.

To help them get there, the 2011 Oklahoma football predictions are buoyed by quarterback Landry Jones. Jones is a great talent, and it's amazing that you can go from a quarterback like Sam Bradford to a quarterback like Jones one after another. What's scary is that he has put up huge numbers and done great things and can still get even better. He'll also be throwing to an All-America wide receiver in Ryan Broyles.

There's talent on defense too. Corey Nelson is a future star in the making at linebacker, and cornerback Demontre Hurst is a playmaker and sure tackler. The Sooners continue to send highly touted players to the NFL, and that means there is major talent on the team at all positions, year in and year out.

Everyone's college football picks though will need to carefully look at the schedule and see where the team might thrive or stumble. Oklahoma has a very tough game early on in the year, their second game they play at Florida State. Either a win or loss will set things in motion for the season, one way or another. After that, things shouldn't be overly difficult. The Big 12 isn't as strong as it has been in the past, and Oklahoma is the cream of the crop. Missouri, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M are all good things with high hopes, but the Sooners are better than all of them.

So is it a national championship or bust with your college football picks for the Sooners? For Bob Stoops and company that seems to be the case. With all the returning talent, the great quarterback in Landry Jones, and more, Oklahoma is a major threat to win it all for the upcoming college football season. You'll have to decide with your 2011 Oklahoma football predictions whether or not they can live up to the hype, but the Sooners have a few great reasons to believe.
